Dublin Event Guide 863: Dublin is buzzing! – Africa Day, National Drawing Day, Luke Kelly Festival, Harold’s Cross Community Festival, Bike Week, Biodiversity Festival

Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events)

Dublin is buzzing!

Africa Day, National Drawing Day, Luke Kelly Festival, Harold’s Cross Community Festival, Bike Week, Biodiversity Festival

Hi!!

After last week’s mad busy weekend with mountains of free events, I wouldn’t mind a slightly quieter one, especially because I have to get this edition finished early. But would I ever really, seriously complain about free events? Noooo! Bring them on! :-)

It always surprises me that many many people in Dublin don’t realise how many free events there are in Dublin every week of the year. But every week more people sign up for the e-mails and the Facebook reach is also not bad (although it varies widely depending on Facebook’s mood).

If you talk to people about Dublin and it’s cultural offerings, please mention the “Dublin Event Guide for Free Events” if there is interest in free events. The information is there, hopefully people will get it.

I mentioned that this week I will have to send out the Dublin Event Guide sooner. This is not only because there are sooo many events that you need to know about, but also because the Gardiner Street Gospel Choir of which I am part of, has a big gig in the Helix Theatre and setup starts at 11:00. I will be late if I am not finishing soon! ;-)

The ChatGPT announcement happened, but it was different than expected. Nevertheless, it changed the WHOLE landscape of Artificial Intelligence again. Did you hear about it? If you missed it, you just have to come to my event. The date will be announced VERY soon. I gathered interest long enough now! ;-)

You HAVE to know about AI and I will explain to you in very simple terms what is coming our way in my next “Introduction to AI and ChatGPT” class. This is a free and completely non-technical overview for everyone of the good and bad sides of Artificial Intelligence. The class is 2 hours long via Zoom and will happen on a weekday in the near future (no date set yet).

If you are interested in finding out more so that you can form an informed opinion, join me at this class. To do that send a mail to AIClass AT inspiringleadershipacademy.com and I will tell you about the next class or alternatively sign up for information via joerg.ourpage.link/AICourse

If you have signed up of have sent a mail and have not heard from me yet. don’t worry! You will soon!

Donations in May:
EUR 191

(By the end of the month, this number has to reach or exceed EUR 200 to guarantee the continuation of the Dublin Event Guide.)

If the Dublin Event Guide helps you to find out about free events in Dublin, please help with a donation.

The counter here shows the current donation status. By the end of the month EUR 200 will be subtracted to pay the bills. If more money has been donated, the rest will be carried forward. If donations have stopped below the EUR 200, the missing amount will be carried over.

Last week Lesley and Mollie helped with a donation. Thank you so much!! Your help and support is much appreciated by me and (hopefully) by all other readers of the Dublin Event Guide, because without you, the Dublin Event Guide couldn’t continue!

With the above counter you know at all times where we stand and when donating is needed. Donations keep the Dublin Event Guide alive and all donors will also get some additional bonuses.

Here are some more details about donations:
Any amount is appreciated, but if you are looking for a recommendation, then I suggest a donation of 12 Euro per year. – That’s just one Euro per month and you get FOUR Dublin Event Guides for that Euro! If your funds are limited, but you still want to help, you can buy a virtual coffee for just EUR 4. All donations will be used in full for the Dublin Event Guide.

To donate, use the Dublin Event Guide Donation Page here: gturl.eu/DEGdonate. It is really easy to use and uses Stripe’s trustworthy payment processing. You can even sign up for a yearly subscription on the donation page! Yearly subscriptions will give some important financial stability and reliability to the Dublin Event Guide and are therefore very much appreciated! (Look for the RED subscription buttons at the bottom of the Donation Page.)

In case the donation page doesn’t work for you, the old links are here: You can donate via www.paypal.me/DublinEventGuide or for Revolut users among you, just use @joergbrb or now also revolut.me/joergbrb
(If possible, please send your full name and e-mail address as a message with the payment via PayPal or Revolut so that I can tell you about bonuses for donors when available.)

To buy one or two or even three virtual coffees for the Dublin Event Guide, come to the “Buy Me a Coffee” page here www.buymeacoffee.com/DublinEventG

And there is one other way to help and it is even free: If you come to www.DublinEventGuide.com and check out some of the ads and click on the ones that you find interesting, that also helps with a few cent! ?

Thank you!!

And there is more…

+++ Africa Day 2024
Africa Day is a celebration of a whole continent on 25 May of every year. In Ireland it usually takes place on a Sunday near the official Africa Day and for some reason, this year the 19 May was picked. Irish Aid, the Ireland’s official international development aid programme of the Irish government, which is part of the Department of Foreign Affairs organises and sponsors the Africa Day celebration in Ireland and as boring as the organisers sound, as boring is the website at www.ireland.ie/en/africa-day/royal-hospital-kilmainham-2024/#programme But luckily not the officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs will perform at the event, but instead over 50 inspiring, enthusiastic, musically gifted and energetic performers will share their talent with you. There will be a main stage with music, an African Rhythm stage, a spoken word stage and a cultural village and all will take place at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham. Sunday will be sunny and 18 degrees, come to Africa Day! ;-)

+++ Spirit & Soul – Gardiner Street Gospel Choir + Mayo Concert Orchestra – TICKET COMPETITION
The award-winning Gardiner Street Gospel Choir and its band will bring their high-energy ‘Spirit & Soul’ concert to The Helix and in a unique set-up, they will be accompanied by 19-person strong Mayo Concert Orchestra. The mix of wonderfully uplifting, energetic and spirit-filled songs, with the vibrant sounds of orchestral arrangements, will be something you have never heard before and definitely have to experience.
The concert will take place on 18 May at 20:00 in the Helix at DCU, Glasnevin and tickets for EUR 25/15 + fees are available from the Helix via this link www.getthislink.com/spiritsoul
I will be on stage with the Gardiner Street Gospel Choir, but I won’t tell you yet what I will do on stage. ;-) But what I can tell you is that the Gardiner Street Gospel Choir made a pair of tickets available for a Dublin Event Guide reader.

The lucky winner of the 2 tickets is Francis Kelly! Congratulations!

+++ LEARN A NEW SKILL WITH ONLINE COURSES
Is there ever a wrong time for learning a new skill or enhancing what you are already interested in? Maybe it is a language or an instrument or some technical skills? Or something completely different? Nearly every subject is there! Check out Udemy via the link below, they have thousands of courses and there is good chance that what you are looking for is available. Nearly all the courses are REALLY affordable!
The lowest price most of the time is EUR 12.99. Sometimes it even goes down further to EUR 9.99 and when that happens (about once or twice a year), I will tell you. But even 12.99 is definitely a good price for what you get! – Check out the website at www.getthislink.com/Udemy22 And if you buy through that link, you also help the Dublin Event Guide! :-)

+++ IKEA Crafting / Music / Cooking Workshops
