Dublin Event Guide 843: Happy New Year! – New Year Festival (NYF Dublin) Gigs: Dublin Castle & Meeting House Square

Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events)

Happy New Year!

New Year Festival (NYF Dublin) Gigs: Dublin Castle & Meeting House Square

Hi!!

This is the last Dublin Event Guide of 2023 and while we are not back to the pre-lockdown years as far as events are concerned, this year was better again than the previous two years. So the trend is in the right direction!

I am very hopeful for 2024, that we can get close to the pre-2020 time for cultural events in Dublin and for free events, I will make sure that in 2024 there will be no better listing than the Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events).

Stay with me, with us and you will find out about everything that is culture and is free. Every so often I am asked why I am only including free events and the explanation is simple: Event organisers of free events do a tremendous job, but usually they don’t have the funds to promote their events. You, on the other side, are very interested in cultural events, but without the Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events), you would probably not know about half of what’s happening in Dublin. So the Dublin Event Guide is a sort of match maker. ;-)

Thanks for staying with me throughout 2023. Thanks for supporting the Dublin Event Guide with your presence. Thanks for helping with donations. Thanks for spreading the word. And thanks for clicking on ads.

Have a great start of the new year!

New Year’s eve in Dublin is always a bit of a disappointment. One day there will be a central fireworks again. Or maybe some central count down that is part of a free event? It is working in Sydney, London, Berlin, New York and many many other cities around the world, but Dublin struggles. With the Christmas at the Castle Christmas Market, we finally have a decent Christmas Market. Maybe we should tackle New Year’s Eve next?

Donations in January:
EUR 136

(By the end of the month, this number has to reach or exceed EUR 200 to guarantee the continuation of the Dublin Event Guide.)

If the Dublin Event Guide helps you to find out about free events in Dublin, please help with a donation.

The counter here shows the current donation status. By the end of the month EUR 200 will be subtracted to pay the bills. If more money has been donated, the rest will be carried forward. If donations have stopped below the EUR 200, the missing amount will be carried over.

There were no donations last week and in normal times that would concern me. But you have been really really good in November and early December so we have some buffer. More donations will be needed in January to pay the bills, but we have a head start!

With the above counter you know at all times where we stand and when donating is needed. Donations keep the Dublin Event Guide alive and all donors will also get some additional bonuses.

Here are some more details about donations:
Any amount is appreciated, but if you are looking for a recommendation, then I suggest a donation of 12 Euro per year. – That’s just one Euro per month and you get FOUR Dublin Event Guides for that Euro! If your funds are limited, but you still want to help, you can buy a virtual coffee for just EUR 4. All donations will be used in full for the Dublin Event Guide.

To donate, use the Dublin Event Guide Donation Page here: gturl.eu/DEGdonate. It is really easy to use and uses Stripe’s trustworthy payment processing. You can even sign up for a yearly subscription on the donation page! Yearly subscriptions will give some important financial stability and reliability to the Dublin Event Guide and are therefore very much appreciated! (Look for the RED subscription buttons at the bottom of the Donation Page.)

In case the donation page doesn’t work for you, the old links are here: You can donate via www.paypal.me/DublinEventGuide or for Revolut users among you, just use @joergbrb or now also revolut.me/joergbrb
(If possible, please send your full name and e-mail address as a message with the payment via PayPal or Revolut so that I can tell you about bonuses for donors when available.)

To buy one or two or even three virtual coffees for the Dublin Event Guide, come to the “Buy Me a Coffee” page here www.buymeacoffee.com/DublinEventG

And there is one other way to help and it is even free: If you come to www.DublinEventGuide.com and check out some of the ads and click on the ones that you find interesting, that also helps with a few cent! ?

Thank you!!

The Irish in time found their way into positions of power and privilege across the region, whether as plantation owners or colonial governors.
Entangled Islands traces this long and multifaceted history of connection through 19 key figures on either side of the Atlantic, from merchants and enslavers to poets and journalists.
Admission is included in the normal ticket price. Find out more here epicchq.com/entangled-islands/

+++ Last chance to see the Moving Crib
On Sun 07 Jan, the Moving Crib will close again for the next 11 months, so this is your last chance. In this Christmas season to visit it. The Moving Crib is a crib that stretches across the whole basement of the St Martin Apostolate at Parnell Square and in which the figures move in a endearing way. It is particularly suited for kids, but also adults will get something out of it. The Moving Crib is open from 11:00-17:30 daily with some exceptions (closed on New Year’s Day and closing already at 15:00 on New Year’s Eve). Admission is free. The address is St Martin Apostolate, 42 Parnell Square West, Dublin 1 www.stmartin.ie/crib/

The lowest price most of the time is EUR 12.99. Sometimes it even goes down further to EUR 9.99 and when that happens (about once or twice a year), I will tell you. But even 12.99 is definitely a good price for what you get! – Check out the website at www.getthislink.com/Udemy22 And if you buy through that link, you also help the Dublin Event Guide! :-)
