Dublin Event Guide 835: Blinkin’ Tree Alert! – November Flea Market Pub Crawl, Repair Cafe, Dublin Book Festival

Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events)

Blinkin’ Tree Alert!

November Flea Market Pub Crawl, Repair Cafe, Dublin Book Festival

Hi!!

I LOVE Christmas, BUT yesterday I saw the first lit Christmas tree at a shopping centre and I was tempted to scream “GO AWAY, I am not ready yet!!”. But I just know what the tree would have done…

….it would have blinked its hundreds of tiny LED eyes at me and hummed a smug little jingle, as if to say, “Ho-ho-ho, too late, I’m here to jingle all the way!” And I, caught off guard by its premature twinkling audacity, would stand there, a grown adult, glaring at a conifer like it just stole my parking spot.

So, what did I do? I shook my head like an old one complaining about a few kids screaming harmlessly on a play ground and then went on with my shopping, accepting that the world just had gone mad.

How are you on the “Christmas in November” issue?

We now nearly expect that Christmas sweets and Christmas decorations are in the shops in mid September, but 3-storey high, blinking Christmas trees?

The good news? LOTS of events in this Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events), but not a single Christmas event yet! ;-)

After my first “Introduction to AI and ChatGPT” classes a few people asked if I could help get up to speed with ChatGPT so that they can use it their job or for their hobbies and interests. They didn’t want to do a course, but just wanted some intensive 1-on-1 training with me.

In response to these requests, I created an offer for a special price for all participants and because there was a good bit of interest, I also want to extend the offer to people that didn’t do my “Introduction to AI and ChatGPT” class.

I know that it will only be a small number of Dublin Event Guide readers who might be interested, but if you or someone you know are interested, please note that for a limited time I have reduced the fee by a whopping EUR 100 as a pre-Christmas ;-) special! Go to www.getthislink.com/MasterChatGPT and check for the Promo Code there.

Donations in November:
EUR 80

(By the end of the month, this number has to reach or exceed EUR 200 to guarantee the continuation of the Dublin Event Guide.)

If the Dublin Event Guide helps you to find out about free events in Dublin, please help with a donation.

The counter here shows the current donation status. By the end of the month EUR 200 will be subtracted to pay the bills. If more money has been donated, the rest will be carried forward. If donations have stopped below the EUR 200, the missing amount will be carried over.

Last week, the wonderful people helping with donations were Michael, Lorraine and Gerard! Thank you very much! Your help is much appreciated and is making a difference. Without it, the Dublin Event Guide can not survive.

With the above counter you know at all times where we stand and when donating is needed. Donations keep the Dublin Event Guide alive and all donors will also get some additional bonuses.

Here are some more details about donations:
Any amount is appreciated, but if you are looking for a recommendation, then I suggest a donation of 12 Euro per year. – That’s just one Euro per month and you get FOUR Dublin Event Guides for that Euro! If your funds are limited, but you still want to help, you can buy a virtual coffee for just EUR 4. All donations will be used in full for the Dublin Event Guide.

To donate, use the Dublin Event Guide Donation Page here: gturl.eu/DEGdonate. It is really easy to use and uses Stripe’s trustworthy payment processing. You can even sign up for a yearly subscription on the donation page! Yearly subscriptions will give some important financial stability and reliability to the Dublin Event Guide and are therefore very much appreciated! (Look for the RED subscription buttons at the bottom of the Donation Page.)

In case the donation page doesn’t work for you, the old links are here: You can donate via www.paypal.me/DublinEventGuide or for Revolut users among you, just use @joergbrb or now also revolut.me/joergbrb
(If possible, please send your full name and e-mail address as a message with the payment via PayPal or Revolut so that I can tell you about bonuses for donors when available.)

To buy one or two or even three virtual coffees for the Dublin Event Guide, come to the “Buy Me a Coffee” page here www.buymeacoffee.com/DublinEventG

And there is one other way to help and it is even free: If you come to www.DublinEventGuide.com and check out some of the ads and click on the ones that you find interesting, that also helps with a few cent! ?

Thank you!!

+++ Entangled Islands – Ireland & the Caribbean

05 Sept-29 Feb – 10:00-17:00 – EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum, chq Building, Customs House Quay, Dublin 1 – Adm: included in normal admission

Discover 400 years of Irish links to the Caribbean in this temporary exhibition (until February 2024) that  tells the stories of a wide range of Irish people who traversed and settled in the Caribbean. It all started in the 17th century, when Irish indentured labourers were among the many thousands transported to work on islands acquired by the English. The Irish in time found their way into positions of power and privilege across the region, whether as plantation owners or colonial governors.
Entangled Islands traces this long and multifaceted history of connection through 19 key figures on either side of the Atlantic, from merchants and enslavers to poets and journalists.
Admission is included in the normal ticket price. Find out more here epicchq.com/entangled-islands/
