Dublin Event Guide 770: It is never too late! – Summer Sunday in Dame Street, Howth Root and Blues Festival, Donabate-Portrane Summer Festival, HER Outdoors Week

Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events)

It is never too late!

Summer Sunday in Dame Street, Howth Root and Blues Festival, Donabate-Portrane Summer Festival, HER Outdoors Week

Good Morning!

Summer Sunday in Dame Street, Howth Root and Blues Festival, Donabate-Portrane Summer Festival, HER Outdoors Week

When August arrived a few days ago, I thought of that saying. Time is just flying and out of all the plans for the year, not many or at least not enough got completed yet.

How is your year going? Remember these New Year’s Resolutions from more than 7 months ago? How are you progressing?

Still sticking to the diet? Still going to the gym? The cigarettes have been banned out of your life? I REALLY hope that things wet well for you! But if they didn’t then I have some GREAT news for you: It would have been great to start back in January and keep it up, but it is NEVER too late and today is the next best day to start again! So don’t give up! There are another 3 3/4 months before the end of the year. Use the time!

And if you had planned to go to MORE events this year than last year (because now you can again!) or to appreciate what Dublin has to offer more than before the lockdowns or to make sure that you get in lots of culture early in the year, just in case we will have another lockdown in autumn…. but it just didn’t work out yet, then go to more events from today (or tomorrow)!!

I mentioned that I am a Life/Success Coach and Business Coach in the context with my new e-mail newsletter and maybe you would expect that I am more “on the ball” because of that. But I am not, at least not in all areas. Yes, I did reliably send out 770 Dublin Event Guides over the last 15 years and that does require a good discipline and dedication, but the newsletter that I promised still hasn’t been sent. Maybe it was because YOU haven’t signed up yet!? ;-) Or maybe it is just one of the “unwashed children”? I will explain in the newsletter what the reason is!! ;-)

The newsletter will provide inspiration, motivation, help, support and ideas about how to be your best self and because I didn’t get started, you can STILL sign up if you are interested. The “Inspiring News” will be completely free and will be a service from my “Inspiring Leadership Academy” for everybody who is interested. To sign up, simply go to www.getthislink.com/InspiringNews (it will just take 20 seconds!) It will be good!! ;-)

Donations in August:
EUR 244

(By the end of the month, this number has to reach or exceed EUR 200 to guarantee the continuation of the Dublin Event Guide.)

If the Dublin Event Guide helps you to find out about free events in Dublin, please help with a donation.

The counter here shows the current donation status. By the end of the month EUR 200 will be subtracted to pay the bills. If more money has been donated, the rest will be carried forward. If donations have stopped below the EUR 200, the missing amount will be carried over.

The great people that donated last week were Anita, Brendan, Eric, Rhona, Mareike, Annie, Martin, Juliana, Giovanna, Celina, Rachel, Kate, Basil! Thank you so much! Your donation will keep the Dublin Event Guide alive and will motivate me to continue week after week. I appreciate you and your support!

With the above counter you know at all times where we stand and when donating is needed. Donations keep the Dublin Event Guide alive and all donors will also get some additional bonuses. The first of those bonuses is described above.

Here are some more details about donations:
Any amount is appreciated, but if you are looking for a recommendation, then I suggest a donation of 12 Euro per year. – That’s just one Euro per month and you get FOUR Dublin Event Guides for that! If your funds are limited, but you still want to help, you can buy a virtual coffee for just EUR 3. All donations will be used in full for the Dublin Event Guide.

To donate, use the Dublin Event Guide Donation Page here: gturl.eu/DEGdonate. It is really easy to use and uses Stripe’s trustworthy payment processing. You can even sign up for a yearly subscription on the donation page! Yearly subscriptions will give some important financial stability and reliability to the Dublin Event Guide and are therefore very much appreciated! (Look for the RED subscription buttons at the bottom of the Donation Page.)

In case the donation page doesn’t work for you, the old links are here: You can donate via www.paypal.me/DublinEventGuide or for Revolut users among you, just use @joergbrb or now also revolut.me/joergbrb
(If possible, please send your full name and e-mail address as a message with the payment via PayPal or Revolut so that I can tell you about bonuses for donors when available.)

To buy one or two or even three virtual coffees for the Dublin Event Guide, come to the “Buy Me a Coffee” page here www.buymeacoffee.com/DublinEventG

And there is one other way to help and it is even free: If you come to www.DublinEventGuide.com and check out some of the ads and click on the ones that you find interesting, that also helps with a few cent! ?

Thank you!!

And there is more…

+++ Natural History Museum partially re-opened!
After two long long years, the Natural History Museum, also known as the “Dead Zoo” has re-opened its doors on Tuesday 02 August. The museum was closed for renovation and the works is still not completed, but the ground floor has been re-opened and at least some part will therefore be accessible again.
Admission will remain free, but different to before, you will now need to book a timed ticket to access the museum. A visit is expected to take approx. 45 minutes.
All details are here www.museum.ie/en-IE/Museums/Natural-History/Visitor-Information/Reopening-FAQs Since large parts of the museum will stay closed, it will take another good while until events will return, but it is great that the museum is open again.

+++ Summer Sunday on College Green & Dame Street
It sounds good at first! It is summer, it is Sunday and there will get a great festival in the city centre on College Green and Dame Street with no traffic. We imagine music, street performance, a market, food stalls and a great atmosphere. Only problem is that this is probably not what will happening. :-(
Dublin City describes it as “…on-street entertainment and free family-fun. The event will have a colourful carnival theme with performers, stilt walkers and jugglers. […] There will be lots to see and do like a ride on an antique carousel, circus skills workshops, face painting and lots of outdoor furniture to relax and take in the sights or eat a picnic with sounds and aromas of summer floating through the air.”
That’s it as described in this Press Release www.dublincity.ie/events/summer-sunday-traffic-free-day
Regrettably, previous events were really just that a couple of stilt walker, A juggler and a few benches where you can sit down and eat what you brought. That’s it! NO market, NO street performance, NO music, NO food stalls and not much atmosphere.
I sooooo hope that I am TOTALLY and COMPLETELY wrong! But Dublin City Council people have an odd understanding of “summer fun”.
This is what we should do: We should ALL go there and check it out. And if it is great, let’s praise Dublin City and thank them. But if it is not great, let’s tell them as well! Why? Because that is the only chance that the next event will be better!
See you in Dame Street on Sunday! ;-)

+++ Low Priced Books (with free delivery)

And by buying books from Book Depository you will also help the Dublin Event Guide for no additional cost to you. Use this link: shor.by/BookDepository

+++ Howth Roots and Blues Festival
The Howth Roots and Blues Festival will take place this weekend until Sunday 07 August. More than 30 gigs will happen in a range of venues across Howth. The venues are The Summit Inn, McNeills, The Bloody Stream, The Harbour Bar, Findlaters, The Waterside and O’Connells. The full programme is here www.howthrootsandblues.com/progamme

+++ Street artists in Dun Laoghaire in August
From 03-14 August some of the best street artists from Ireland and abroad will come to Dun Laoghaire to create art on the streets. While Dublin City brings street artists of amazing pieces of art to court, is Dun Laoghaire welcoming them to beautify the town with their bold and bright designs to the walls of the town. The event is called Dun Laoghaire Anseo and if i can find out more, I will let you know over the next little while. www.dlrcoco.ie/en/dlanseo

+++ LEARN A NEW SKILL WITH ONLINE COURSES
Is there ever a wrong time for learning a new skill or enhancing what you are already interested in? Maybe it is a language or an instrument or some technical skills? Or NLP or some Business related “soft skills”? Check out Udemy via the link below, they have thousands of courses and there is good chance that what you are looking for is available. Nearly all the courses are REALLY affordable!
The lowest price most of the time is EUR 12.99, so definitely do-able. Occasionally it goes even below that and I will mention it here when I find out. Check out the website at shor.by/GqCk And if you buy through that link, you also help the Dublin Event Guide! :-)

+++ HER Outdoors Week – Outdoor Activities for Women
From 08-14 August the second HER Outdoors Week will take place in Ireland. Last year more than 250 events took place nationwide and nearly 5,000 women took part. The week is organised by Sports Ireland and is a great idea! The only thing that puzzles is why Sports Ireland refers to women constantly as “females” instead of “women”.
In the Greater Dublin Area there are around 40 events. You will find Outdoor Yoga, Cycling, Orienteering, Rowing, Fitness Classes, Outdoor Spin Classes, Outdoor Kettlebell Classes, Strength and Conditioning, Walks etc. Check the programme via www.sportireland.ie/heroutdoors
(Tip: When you search for events on the map, initially increase the distance at the top and then reduce it again.)

And this is it for another week! Have a great weekend and good new week.

Take care,

–Joerg (dublineventguide@gmail.com)
