Hi all!
You are amazing! Thanks so much! After last week’s desperate plea for help, ten outstanding Dublin Event Guide supporters stood up and helped! Thank you so much, Mark, Estelle, Gordon, Eric, Abigail, Amanda, Liam, Annie, CH and HL. You are making a difference, are a great example of amazing people and I appreciate your donations!
From now on, the donation counter below will be a new feature in the Dublin Event Guide and I will also mention the donors by first name to confirm that their help has arrived and to let them know that they are appreciated.
Put your name on the list as well, which has to distinct advantages: 1) It feels good doing something good for the greater Dublin Event Guide community and 2) With your help, the Dublin Event Guide will be kept alive! Thank you! |
In other news, there are some positive and some negative changes to the rules/guidelines or laws. I will start with the negative one: Dancing indoors is now forbidden by law in Ireland! :-O
(If you want to check it out, look for “S.I. No. 385 of 2021” on www.gov.ie/en/collection/1f150-view-statutory-instruments-related-to-the-covid-19-pandemic/ and in that Statutory Instrument (S.I.) dancing is mentioned under Clause 2 (i).)
On one hand, that is not really a change. On the other hand, by adding it to the Health Act only now (25 July), it became formally illegal and punishable at a time when people were hoping that events (incl. dancing) will re-START.
The good news this week is that – maybe thanks to “Zappone-Gate” and maybe not ;-) – we now know that organised outdoor events with up to 200 people are indeed permitted and since today also live music outdoors was allowed again, this means that pubs and other venues can have outdoor gigs again!! Now we just need less rain and more warm and dry evenings! |
Donations in August:
EUR 126
(By the end of the month, this number HAS to reach EUR 200 to guarantee the continuation of the Dublin Event Guide.) |
If the Dublin Event Guide helps you to find out about free events in Dublin, please help with a donation.
The counter on the left shows the current doantion status. By the end of the month we need to reach EUR 200 so that I can pay the bills. If more money will be donated, I will carry it forward. If donations stopped below the minimum amount, the amount missing will be carried over. |
And here are some more details about donations:
Any amount is appreciated, but If you are looking for a recommendation, then I suggest a donation of 12 Euro per year. – That’s just one Euro per month and you get FOUR Dublin Event Guides for that! If your funds are limited, but you still want to help, you can buy a virtual coffee for just EUR 3. All donations will be used in full for the Dublin Event Guide.
To donate, use the Dublin Event Guide Donation Page here: gturl.eu/DEGdonate. It is really easy to use and uses Stripe’s trustworthy payment processing. You can even sign up for a yearly subscription on the donation page! Yearly subscriptions will give some important financial stability and reliability to the Dublin Event Guide and are therefore very much appreciated! (Look for the RED subscription buttons at the bottom of the Donation Page.)
In case the donation page doesn’t work for you, the old links are here: You can donate via www.paypal.me/DublinEventGuide or for Revolut users among you, just use @joergbrb
To buy one or two or even three virtual coffees for the Dublin Event Guide, come to the “Buy Me a Coffee” page here www.buymeacoffee.com/DublinEventG
And there is one other way to help and it is even free: If you come to www.DublinEventGuide.com and check out some of the ads and click on the ones that you find interesting, that also helps with a few cent! ?
Thank you!!

+++ National Gallery tickets available here
The National Gallery is usually free anyway, but in current times you will have to book tickets to get access and you have to enter the building on the Merrion Street side. Tickets are available here: www.nationalgallery.ie/visit-us/book-your-ticket The National Gallery also is running events again and because the events have limited number of spaces, they can book out relatively fast, at least before I can write about the events, so check out the events 1-2 weeks in advance here www.nationalgallery.ie/whats-on and then book tickets for them.
+++ Visit Dublin Castle for free
Until the end of 2021, entry to Dublin Castle is free for all visitors. You will be able to visit the State Apartments on a self-guided tour. There are currently no guided tours and therefore the Medieval Undercroft and Chapel Royal are not accessible. Opening hours are Mon-Sun & Bank Holidays: 09:45-17:45 (last admission 17:15). Tickets can be booked at dublincastle.admit-one.eu/?p=calendar&ev=SELFGUIDE for free there will also a limited number of tickets available at the ticket desk.

Nearly all the courses are REALLY affordable!
The lowest cost for courses this month will be around 12.99. Check out the website at shor.by/GqCk And if you buy through that link, you also help the Dublin Event Guide! :-)
