Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events)

So much happening!

Bray Air Display, Rush Air Display, Art and the Outdoors, Rush Harbour Festival, Pirates of Parliament Street, Dublin Book Festival Family Fun Day, Bray Fireworks

Hi!!

Bank Holiday weekends are often a little disappointing. LOTS of time to go to events, but very few events. The August bank holiday weekend is different. There are actually plenty of events happening.

I know MANY of you are away and I hope you are having a wonderful time (although you are most likely not reading this while away) but the rest of us here in Dublin will not feel sorry for ourselves, but we will just enjoy what Dublin has to offer. And if you are a regular reader of the “Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events)” you know that Dublin always has some good stuff to offer. ALWAYS!

If you only joined us recently, allow me to remind you that all events listed in the “Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events)” are free events. Why only free events? Because there are a huge amount of event organisers who run free events and there is a huge amount of people who enjoy free events, but if they don’t know about each other, it will never be a happy “date”. So in essence I am in the dating business, bringing together passionate organisers with an appreciative audience. ;-)

This weekend the main events are the Bray Air Display and the Rush Airshow.

Donations in August:
EUR 91

(By the end of the month, this number has to reach or exceed EUR 200 to guarantee the continuation of the Dublin Event Guide.)

If the Dublin Event Guide helps you to find out about free events in Dublin, please help with a donation.

The counter here shows the current donation status. By the end of the month EUR 200 will be subtracted to pay the bills. If more money has been donated, the rest will be carried forward. If donations have stopped below the EUR 200, the missing amount will be carried over.

Last week only Mairead helped with a donation. Thank you! Because a lot of people were very generous in the week before, only one donation is no problem at all. Every donation is important and helps and the most important thing is that by the end of the month enough money came together to pay for the bills EUR 200 is all we need per month to keep the Dublin Event Guide alive. If you can help, please do so. It is truly a wonderful group of people who help keeping the Dublin Event Guide going and you could be part of it!

With the above counter you know at all times where we stand and when donating is needed. Donations keep the Dublin Event Guide alive and all donors will also get some additional bonuses.

Here are some more details about donations:
Any amount is appreciated, but if you are looking for a recommendation, then I suggest a donation of 12 Euro per year. – That’s just one Euro per month and you get FOUR Dublin Event Guides for that Euro! If your funds are limited, but you still want to help, you can buy a virtual coffee for just EUR 4. All donations will be used in full for the Dublin Event Guide.

To donate, use the Dublin Event Guide Donation Page here: gturl.eu/DEGdonate. It is really easy to use and uses Stripe’s trustworthy payment processing. You can even sign up for a yearly subscription on the donation page! Yearly subscriptions will give some important financial stability and reliability to the Dublin Event Guide and are therefore very much appreciated! (Look for the RED subscription buttons at the bottom of the Donation Page.)

In case the donation page doesn’t work for you, the old links are here: You can donate via www.paypal.me/DublinEventGuide or for Revolut users among you, just use @joergbrb or now also revolut.me/joergbrb
(If possible, please send your full name and e-mail address as a message with the payment via PayPal or Revolut so that I can tell you about bonuses for donors when available.)

To buy one or two or even three virtual coffees for the Dublin Event Guide, come to the “Buy Me a Coffee” page here www.buymeacoffee.com/DublinEventG

And there is one other way to help and it is even free: If you come to www.DublinEventGuide.com and check out some of the ads and click on the ones that you find interesting, that also helps with a few cent! ?

Thank you!!

And there is more…

+++ Bray Air Display on 03 August / Rush Air Display on 04 August
The Bray Air Display will happen not on two, but only on one day this year. And on that one day it will start even quite late at 15:00. The line-up is here brayairdisplay.com/bray-air-display-takes-saturday-august-3rd/ Many of the regulars, but it seems there is no “top act” on the line up this year (e.g. Red Arrows or Frecce Tricolori). The Bray Air Display was HUGE around 2018 with tens of thousands of people flocking to Bray, but it seems that in recent years it attract the same large crowds. If you are a flight enthusiast, it is still possibly the biggest of only a few air shows in Ireland. If you plan to drive to Bray, note that you will have to pre-book a car park space for EUR 12 and you have to arrive before 14:00: brayairdisplay.com
Many of the participants at the Bray Air Display will show their planes and air acrobatics on the next day Sun 04 August at the Fingal Air Display at Rush Harbour in North County Dublin (Fingal). www.fingalairdisplay.com/ It seems Rush took Day 2 from Bray. So if you are from that corner of County Dublin, you might not have to take on the trek to Bray, but can hop over to Rush. The air show in Rush will also start at 15:00.

+++ SUMMER IN DUBLIN
Dublintown, the business organisation that represents shops and businesses in Dublin City, has announced a summer event programme called “Summer in Dublin”. It will run from 07 July to 25 August with street performances, dance and music every Sunday from 16:00-20:00.
A list of performers is mentioned and a list of locations, but unfortunately Dublin Town seems to want to surprise people in Dublin with pop-up performances, instead giving us a chance to plan attending the “Summer in Dublin” events.
Locations are from South Ann Street to Drury Street on the southside and Liffey Street, Capel Street, North Earl Street and Wolfe Tone Park on the northside.
Musical attractions are a New Orleans Jazz band New Brass Kings, three-piece trad band Sin Deri Si and Latin group Havana Club Trio.
There will also be dance and art and HOPEFULLY Dublintown will tell us over the next few weeks where the events will take place.

+++ LEARN A NEW SKILL WITH ONLINE COURSES
Is there ever a wrong time for learning a new skill or enhancing what you are already interested in? Maybe it is a language or an instrument or some technical skills? Or something completely different? Nearly every subject is there! Check out Udemy via the link below, they have thousands of courses and there is good chance that what you are looking for is available. Nearly all the courses are REALLY affordable!
The lowest price most of the time is EUR 12.99. Sometimes it even goes down further to EUR 9.99 and when that happens (about once or twice a year), I will tell you. But even 12.99 is definitely a good price for what you get! – Check out the website at www.getthislink.com/Udemy22 And if you buy through that link, you also help the Dublin Event Guide! :-)
