Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events)

Busiest Weekend?

Culture Date with Dublin 8, Pedalpalooza, Phizzfest, Ranelagh Arts Festival, National Bike Week, Pint of Science Festival

Hi!!

“Darkness into Light” is a yearly event, organised by Pieta, it is an early-morning fundraising walk for the organisation who provides free, accessible support to people affected by suicide and self-harm. Because it is a fundraiser, it is understandably not a free event and when you get this Dublin Event Guide it is too late to take part. The “Darkness into Light” walks this Saturday start already at 04:15. But maybe you can still help. Either with a donation (www.darknessintolight.ie/) or by being there for a friend, colleague or family member who seems stressed or troubled or is asking for help and where the time you can give will hopefully avoid the need for Pieta’s help alltogether!

Never underestimate the impact you can have, by being there for someone who needs you, when they need someone to listen or to talk to. Too many of us have been affected directly or indirectly by suicide and often help in the right moment could have changed the outcome dramatically.

I tried to get this Dublin Event Guide to you earlier than usually so that you can use it when you go out to explore Dublin on this wonderful weekend. But there are sooooo many events and so many festivals taking place. Uff! This could be the busiest weekend of the year!

I know that many of you would love to get the Dublin Event Guide early every week and preferably even on Friday. If I can find someone who will pay me for creating the Dublin Event Guide, I will deliver on that wish. Until then, unfortunately, the work on it will have to be done from around 21:00 on a Friday evening for approx. 14 hours through the night until I am finished the next morning. I don’t have any other time for it. I know this is not ideal, but it is the best I can do at the moment.

It is expected that on Monday ChatGPT will announce a competitor to Google’s Search Engine. This has the potential to be revolutionary and if you have lived with Google for the last 26 years (since 1998) you could get blown away by the new way to search. AI is here to stay and will get into ALL areas of our lives.

You HAVE to know about it and a free I will explain to you in very simple terms what is coming our way in my next “Introduction to AI and ChatGPT” class. This is a free and completely non-technical overview for everyone of the good and bad sides of Artificial Intelligence. The class is 2 hours long via Zoom and will happen on a weekday in the near future (no date set yet).

If you are interested in finding out more so that you can form an informed opinion, join me at this class. To do that send a mail to AIClass AT inspiringleadershipacademy.com and I will tell you about the next class or alternatively sign up for information via joerg.ourpage.link/AICourse

If you have signed up of have sent a mail and have not heard from me yet. don’t worry! You will soon!

Donations in May:
EUR 173

(By the end of the month, this number has to reach or exceed EUR 200 to guarantee the continuation of the Dublin Event Guide.)

If the Dublin Event Guide helps you to find out about free events in Dublin, please help with a donation.

The counter here shows the current donation status. By the end of the month EUR 200 will be subtracted to pay the bills. If more money has been donated, the rest will be carried forward. If donations have stopped below the EUR 200, the missing amount will be carried over.

Last week Sheila, Colette and Angie helped with a donation. WOW! Thank you so much!! Your help and support is much appreciated by me and (hopefully) by all other readers of the Dublin Event Guide, because without you, the Dublin Event Guide couldn’t continue!

With the above counter you know at all times where we stand and when donating is needed. Donations keep the Dublin Event Guide alive and all donors will also get some additional bonuses.

Here are some more details about donations:
Any amount is appreciated, but if you are looking for a recommendation, then I suggest a donation of 12 Euro per year. – That’s just one Euro per month and you get FOUR Dublin Event Guides for that Euro! If your funds are limited, but you still want to help, you can buy a virtual coffee for just EUR 4. All donations will be used in full for the Dublin Event Guide.

To donate, use the Dublin Event Guide Donation Page here: gturl.eu/DEGdonate. It is really easy to use and uses Stripe’s trustworthy payment processing. You can even sign up for a yearly subscription on the donation page! Yearly subscriptions will give some important financial stability and reliability to the Dublin Event Guide and are therefore very much appreciated! (Look for the RED subscription buttons at the bottom of the Donation Page.)

In case the donation page doesn’t work for you, the old links are here: You can donate via www.paypal.me/DublinEventGuide or for Revolut users among you, just use @joergbrb or now also revolut.me/joergbrb
(If possible, please send your full name and e-mail address as a message with the payment via PayPal or Revolut so that I can tell you about bonuses for donors when available.)

To buy one or two or even three virtual coffees for the Dublin Event Guide, come to the “Buy Me a Coffee” page here www.buymeacoffee.com/DublinEventG

And there is one other way to help and it is even free: If you come to www.DublinEventGuide.com and check out some of the ads and click on the ones that you find interesting, that also helps with a few cent! ?

Thank you!!

Sponsorship Opportunity

Great news in this category. The void that was left here will be filled soon by a very popular company that is visited by people in Ireland more than 21 million times per year!
Who could that be? Send an e-mail with subject “21M” to dublineventguide@gmail.com with your guess and if you get it right you will win a prize. If I get more than one correct entry, I will do a draw for two prizes. What prizes? I haven’t decided yet. (To run a competition was a spontaneous idea. ;-) ) Make sure the mail is with me by next Friday 18:00.

+++ Culture Date with Dublin 8
This cultural event until Sunday in a huge Dublin 8 area of Dublin is a relatively new event, organised by Dublin City. Dublin 8 has a LOT to offer culturally and therefore there are a huge amount of events and many are free. I attempted to list all of them and had to give up. The list ist toooo long. A lot of events are added above for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, but there are more. Check out www.culturedatewithdublin8.ie/whats-on

++ Bealtine Festival
Bealtaine is a celebration of the arts and creativity as we age, it is a festival that takes place every year in the month of May in Ireland and there will be lots of events (and many of them are free) throughout the month for everybody in the more mature age category. There are too many events to list them individually, for that reason please check out the following link: bealtaine.ie/events-2/

+++ LEARN A NEW SKILL WITH ONLINE COURSES
Is there ever a wrong time for learning a new skill or enhancing what you are already interested in? Maybe it is a language or an instrument or some technical skills? Or something completely different? Nearly every subject is there! Check out Udemy via the link below, they have thousands of courses and there is good chance that what you are looking for is available. Nearly all the courses are REALLY affordable!
The lowest price most of the time is EUR 12.99. Sometimes it even goes down further to EUR 9.99 and when that happens (about once or twice a year), I will tell you. But even 12.99 is definitely a good price for what you get! – Check out the website at www.getthislink.com/Udemy22 And if you buy through that link, you also help the Dublin Event Guide! :-)

+++ IKEA Crafting / Music / Cooking Workshops
