Last week was BUSY! With International Women’s Day and Enterprise Week and a good few other events, the Dublin Event Guide was full of free events. But less and less people are finding out about these free events! :-O
|

As long as you have subscribed to the e-mail version of the Dublin Event Guide you will never miss out. (Subscription is completely free and you can easily subscribe at www.DublinEventGuide.com)
|
|
|
|
But the people that only read the Dublin Event Guide on Facebook will see less and less. Facebook is partially to be blamed, but only partially. The main reason why less and less of the 83,000 Facebook Followers of the Dublin Event Guide will find out about the free events is because not enough people tell Facebook that they WANT to see these weekly posts.
|
|
This is a problem for all providers of valuable information on Facebook. And YOU can fix it! All you have to do is ENGAGE with the post, by clicking on the links below a post and by giving some feedback on a post. Facebook then realises that you actually really want to see the content and will show you more of it.

Very very simple, but when you don’t do it, then Facebook will assume that what they just showed is NOT something you want to see and then you will be shown less of it. Makes some sense, doesn’t it!? But it means (and that doesn’t apply just to the Dublin Event Guide posts!) that YOU need to tell Facebook what you want to see. Passively consuming means Facebook will decide for you!

This coming week is St Patrick’s Day Festival and I hope that you will have a good time AND that more people than last week will find out about all these great free events.I will post some (but not all) events from the St. Patrick’s Festival in the listings on Wed, Thur and Fri, but if you want to find ALL events, you better check stpatricksfestival.ie/events

+++ Green Roots Project Art Exhibition

At the Green Roots Project, it is believed that Ireland is uniquely placed to be a leader of the sustainability movement. Their goal is to encourage people, communities, businesses, schools/colleges and organisations to engage in more environmentally positive actions. This March, they are encouraging children, teens and adults to get involved in green/eco-activities around the celebration of Ireland’s National feast day, in ways that will produce lasting positive impacts on people, local communities and the environment. The “40 Shades of Green” poster art exhibition will be on display in the CHQ Building and the posters have been created by pupils in Irish schools who answered the questions: “In these days of Climate Crisis, what does it really mean to be Green in Ireland? +++ St. Patrick’s Festival
After a 2-year break, St. Patrick’s Festival is back with an impressive programme and some new locations. This year there will be a “Festival Quarter” at the National Museum at Collins Barracks with a Spiegeltent Mór and a Spiegeltent Beag, a 3,000 capacity outdoor Main Stage, Craic Comedy Tent, Story Yurt, performance spaces, relaxation areas and a Irish Food and Craft Village. The programmes at the Festival Quarter will run from Wed 16 March until Sun 20 March. On Wed there are only some evening events from 19:30, but on the next 4 days the events will start at 12:00 and will go on some days until 22:30. On St. Patrick’s Day, the parade will start at 12:00 at Parnell Square and will run for approx. 2 hours until it reaches Kevin Street. A map of the parade route can be found here stpatricksfestival.ie/media/pages/events/parade/1f49b966c5-1646842157/parade_route_-_city_guide-a4.pdf IN previous years it was close to impossible to see anything of the parade in the O’Connell Street area and the Dame Street area. The highest possibility of seeing something – in my experience – is between Christ Church and St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Nicolas Street and Patrick Street. If you want to have a good viewing position go EARLY and I mean REALLY early. If you are not there by 10:00 you will be – at least in Dame Street – too far back to see anything. The National Gallery is usually free anyway, but in current times you will have to book tickets to get access and you have to enter the building on the Merrion Street side.
