Only seven weeks to Christmas!

Hi all!
Halloween and the clock change are over and now the next stop will already be Christmas. :-O Mad how another year flew by with not that much to show for. And going by the current figures of daily new cases we are far away from being out of this!
|
|
|
Oddly on one hand, but thankfully on the other, live events are still going ahead. Restaurant, pubs and nightclubs are open and life is continuing. I hope you all are well and in good form. ;-)
I am busy working on another personal development course and (you will see it a bit further down here) on Monday I will run another “Tame your Inner Critic” seminar to which you are invited! Coincidentally I was invited to a podcast with a great friend of mine from the USA. Jason W Freeman, who is a really nice, but also funny and very inspirational guy and who speaks in front of BIG crowds about being “Awkwardly Awesome”, interviewed me. In his talks, Jason tells the story of what he learned from having a speech impediment and from suffering cerebral palsy.
In this interview, though, he mainly wanted to know about me and my life. And just to prove that he is “Awkwardly Awesome”, he disappeared from the screen 15 minutes into the interview, leaving me puzzled and a little unsure about what to do next. Hahaha A bit of a shock! It was a great interview and he asked really good questions and he got me to tell more stories about my life than I ever did before. ;-) If you are interested, check the recording on my Facebook page (www.fb.com/joergsteegmueller) or via the direct link here www.getthis.click/joergandjason |

A few weeks ago, I ran the seminar “Tame your inner critic – Reclaim your confidence and thrive in life” as a free Thank you event for everybody who ever has donated to the Dublin Event Guide and it was a big success. 50 people signed up and 42 were able to make it on the night.
Because I didn’t want to make it too big, I had set the limit to 50 and it turned out that a few more people would have loved to join, but couldn’t register. So for them and for all of you who couldn’t make it on that evening, I decided to run the seminar once again on Monday 08 November (19:00-20:30).
I also made some improvements to it and changed the structure a little so even if you attended last time, you are welcome to join again. If you have ever donated to the Dublin Event Guide OR if you attended last time OR if you had registered but were not able to attend, just go to gturl.eu/TameInnerCritic2 and register using the Discount Code DONATED to get free access. And if you have never donated, you can go to the same page and donate EUR 5 to the Dublin Event Guide on the registration page to get also free access to the seminar. |
|
In this 90 minute seminar you will learn how to manage your negative inner voice that tells you too often “You Can’t” or “You aren’t enough” and start pursuing the life you truly want. If you want to change your job, business, relationship or some other aspect of your life, chances are that your “Inner Critic” is somehow involved! Then this seminar is for you!
Why listen to me? In addition to compiling the Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events) every week, I am also a Personal Development and Business Coach and Trainer and through my company, the Inspiring Leadership Academy, I provide seminars and workshops, including leadership training.
Register at gturl.eu/TameInnerCritic2 !! |

Donations in November:
EUR 237
(By the end of the month, this number has to reach or exceed EUR 200 to guarantee the continuation of the Dublin Event Guide.) |
|
If the Dublin Event Guide helps you to find out about free events in Dublin, please help with a donation.
The counter on the left shows the current donation status. By the end of the month EUR 200 will be extracted to pay the bills. If more money has been donated, the rest will be carried forward. If donations have stopped below the EUR 200, the missing amount will be carried over. |
|
|
Last week the wonderful people that helped with a donation were Sinead, Margaret, Patricia, Cathal, Juliana, Adam, Pauline, Giovanna! Thank you very much! You are appreciated and your donation is as well!
With the above counter you know at all times where we stand and when donating is needed. Donations keep the Dublin Event Guide alive and all donors will also get some additional bonuses. The first of those bonuses is described above.
Here are some more details about donations:
Any amount is appreciated, but if you are looking for a recommendation, then I suggest a donation of 12 Euro per year. – That’s just one Euro per month and you get FOUR Dublin Event Guides for that! If your funds are limited, but you still want to help, you can buy a virtual coffee for just EUR 3. All donations will be used in full for the Dublin Event Guide.
To donate, use the Dublin Event Guide Donation Page here: gturl.eu/DEGdonate. It is really easy to use and uses Stripe’s trustworthy payment processing. You can even sign up for a yearly subscription on the donation page! Yearly subscriptions will give some important financial stability and reliability to the Dublin Event Guide and are therefore very much appreciated! (Look for the RED subscription buttons at the bottom of the Donation Page.)
In case the donation page doesn’t work for you, the old links are here: You can donate via www.paypal.me/DublinEventGuide or for Revolut users among you, just use @joergbrb
To buy one or two or even three virtual coffees for the Dublin Event Guide, come to the “Buy Me a Coffee” page here www.buymeacoffee.com/DublinEventG
|
|
And there is one other way to help and it is even free: If you come to www.DublinEventGuide.com and check out some of the ads and click on the ones that you find interesting, that also helps with a few cent! ?
Thank you!!

+++ Science Week 2021
This week is Science Week. You find lots of events on www.sfi.ie/events/ but – I wonder if it is because scientists are behind it ;-) – the search facility is really complicated. So you have to spend a bit of time selecting the parameters on the left hand side (on a desktop/laptop).
In addition to the SFI website, you should also check the website of the Festival of Curiosity here festivalofcuriosity.ie/science-week-2021/, who are part of the Science Week, but it seems that their events are not on the SFI website. The Festival of Curiosity has, for example, a Virtual Visit to The National Botanic Gardens of Ireland and a Virtual Safari @ Dublin Zoo in their programme.
|
+++ The end of Science Gallery!?
When we found out that the Science Gallery will close in February 2022, a good few people thought that something needs to be done. The Science Gallery is such a great asset to the cultural scene in Dublin that many were shocked that we could lose it. A signature campaign was quickly organised at gturl.eu/SaveScienceGallery but the response was disappointing. In a normal year, the Science Gallery has welcomed over 300,000 visitors, but the dismal number of less than 5,000 people have signed the signature campaign.
—-
I get that not everybody is as passionate about the Science Gallery as I am ;-), but not even 5,000 people? Is that all? If not more people care, then – I guess – Trinity College is right to close it. :-/
—-
There has been an update in the Business Post: Trinity College claims that they are trying to keep it open, but at the same time they have confirmed to all staff that they will be fired in February. That doesn’t sound like TCD is making ANY effort to keep the Science Gallery open.
—-
It is quite ironic that Dr Linda Doyle, the current Provost of TCD, was Professor of Engineering & The Arts in Trinity College. Science and Art is exactly the Science Gallery’s focus. And it is also ironic that Dr Doyle is described as an active advocate for women in engineering and computer science with involvement in initiatives such Girls in Tech, Teen Turn, HerStory. The Science Gallery is making science and engineering and arts accessible especially for the 15-25 age group and while not specifically female gender-focused, the promotion of STEM (Science, technology, engineering and mathematics) to all children and teenagers is a particular strength of the Science Gallery.
If you haven’t signed yet, please do so here gturl.eu/SaveScienceGallery

+++ Low Priced Books with free delivery
Book Depository is the place where you can buy low priced books, usually for better prices than on Amazon and Book Depository always delivers for free. And by buying books from Book Depository you will also help the Dublin Event Guide for no additional cost to you. Use this link: shor.by/BookDepository .
|
+++ LEARN A NEW SKILL WITH ONLINE COURSES
Is there ever a wrong time for learning a new skill or enhancing what you are already interested in? Maybe it is a language or an instrument or some technical skills? Or NLP or some Business related “soft skills”? Check out Udemy via the link below, they have thousands of courses and there is good chance that what you are looking for is available. Nearly all the courses are REALLY affordable!
The lowest cost for courses this month will be around 12.99. Check out the website at shor.by/GqCk And if you buy through that link, you also help the Dublin Event Guide! :-)
|
+++ National Gallery tickets available here
The National Gallery is usually free anyway, but in current times you will have to book tickets to get access and you have to enter the building on the Merrion Street side. Tickets are available here: www.nationalgallery.ie/visit-us/book-your-ticket The National Gallery also is running events again and because the events have limited number of spaces, they can book out relatively fast, at least before I can write about the events, so check out the events 1-2 weeks in advance here www.nationalgallery.ie/whats-on and then book tickets for them.
|
+++ Visit Dublin Castle for free
Until the end of 2021, entry to Dublin Castle is free for all visitors. You will be able to visit the State Apartments on a self-guided tour. There are currently no guided tours and therefore the Medieval Undercroft and Chapel Royal are not accessible. Opening hours are Mon-Sun & Bank Holidays: 09:45-17:45 (last admission 17:15). Tickets can be booked at dublincastle.admit-one.eu/?p=calendar&ev=SELFGUIDE for free there will also a limited number of tickets available at the ticket desk.

And this is it for another week! Have a great weekend and good new week.
