Hi all!
Unfortunately I have a little bit of bad news for this week: I will not be able to compile a “Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events)” this week. Apologies!!
This is what happened:
Earlier this week I saw some light flashes in my right eye, followed by blurriness and “floaters” over the next two days. Friends advised me to get it checked and after an examination in Specsavers by a wonderful and persistent Optometrist, I was sent to A&E at the Eye and Ear Hospital in Adelaide Road. The doctors there diagnosed that I had a tear in my retina, which happens to about 10% of people when the gel in the eye undergoes some changes. (I give that level of detail, because it might help someone in similar situation.) The risk in this scenario is that the retina detaches and that would be a serious issue. Luckily it didn’t happen (yet) in my case, but the tear needs to be fixed urgently. So today (Friday) I will be in the hospital for a Laser procedure. “Spot welding” is the term the doctor used. ;-)
All should be good after that BUT I am told that I’m not allowed to read or use a computer until next Tuesday. (Don’t tell him that I am writing his message!!! ;-) ). So for that reason I will not be able to look for free events and write about them this week. I expect that all will be back as normal next week.
Briefly I thought about creating the first ever audio or video version of the Dublin Event Guide, but then I realised that I still have to research and look for free events to do that, which requires reading.
I hope that you will find lots of things to do this bank holiday weekend even without my help.
Have a great weekend!
Take care,
