Expanding oyster! ;-)

Hi all!
The world is our Oyster!? is a saying that was allegedly sterted by Shakespeare in 1602. (It means that you can be anything you want and go anywhere you want to.)
With the expansion of our “oyster” from 5km to 20km it NEARLY feels like the world is endless again, doesn’t it. ;-) |
|
|
Well, NEARLY! But at least all is going in the right direction – for now! And in a few weeks maybe even museums and galleries will open again. :-O Pubs & Restaurants? Hmmmm, not for another long while it seems.
Spring is also coming. So there is definitely new room for optimism. And it is a 100% certainty that events will start again a some point in our lifetime, I guarantee you that!
On the flipside and while the UK is celebrating with big crowds in Soho and we are grateful for the tiniest permission to walk a little further, Germany is NOW introducing curfews from 21:00-05:00. Let’s hope that our numbers will stay low. |

A HUGE thank you to the wonderful people that contacted me last week with feedback, support, VERY appreciated donations or just a click on Facebook on the helpful buttons to confirm that you still want me to continue with the Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events). To you a click or a short message might be nothing, to me it is the fuel that keeps me going week after week. ;-) I never felt it with virus, but regarding the Dublin Event Guide we are definitely “in it together”.
THANK YOU!

Maybe this shiny, happy picture on the left helped last week, so let me test its effect for another week. ?
If you like free cultural events and enjoy the great content in the “Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events)”, please help by donating a small amount. |
|
|
Any amount will help, but if you are looking for a recommendation, then I would suggest a donation of 12 Euro per year. That’s just one Euro per month. Where else can you get so much value for so little money?
Use the Dublin Event Guide Donation Page here. It is really easy to use and uses Stripe’s trustworthy payment processing. In case it doesn’t work for you, the “old” links are still below for another little while. On this new page, you can also choose to sign up for a yearly subscription! Yearly subscriptions will give some important financial stability and reliability to the Dublin Event Guide and would be great to have! (Look for the RED subscription buttons at the bottom.)
If the new page above doesn’t work, just use these links and donate via www.paypal.me/DublinEventGuide
or for Revolut users among you just use @joergbrb (Revolut is moving away from phone numbers and to addresses like this one.)
Or you can buy one or two or even three virtual coffees (or Hot Chocolates!) for the Dublin Event Guide and you can do that on the “Buy Me a Coffee” page here www.buymeacoffee.com/DublinEventG
|
|
And another way to help is this free way: If you come to www.DublinEventGuide.com and check out some of the ads and click on the ones that you find interesting, that also helps with a few cent!
Thank you!!

+++ MusicTown Festival
Each April a Music Festival takes place in Dublin. Initially it was planned for April because of the significant 13 April date. On 13 April 1742 Händel’s Messiah was first performed in a music venue in Temple Bar and the Music Town Festival was meant to incorporate the yearly commemoration of this event.
This year the “Messiah on the Street” performance that normally takes place on 13 April didn’t happen for understandable and obvious reasons, but oddly the Music Town Festival was moved away from 13 April. It started on 15 April and will run until 25 April. All events are taking place online and nearly all of them are free, which is a first and a great opportunity this year for you to participate.
Over 10 days, producers, artists and musicians work together, celebrating music of all genres in both established venues and unorthodox locations. www.musictown.ie
|
+++ New Music Dublin
And a second music festival is taking place this month: New Music Dublin is a contemporary music festival that happens in the National Concert Hall and other venues throughout Dublin. It runs from Fri 23 – Mon 26 April and all events are free. There is also a projection of musicians that is done in cooperation with the Music Town Festical. All details are here www.newmusicdublin.ie/

+++ For Curious People
Last week I found something for the curious people who always are open to learn new things. ;-) It is an article in the New York Times about “A Tiny Particle’s Wobble Could Upend the Known Laws of Physics Experiments with particles known as muons suggest that there are forms of matter and energy vital to the nature and evolution of the cosmos that are not yet known to science.” A slightly complicated headline, but this is BIG!! It seems that muons do not stick to the rules of physics that we always assume as universal. Watch this space! You will read more about muons! www.nytimes.com/2021/04/16/learning/lesson-of-the-day-a-tiny-particles-wobble-could-upend-the-known-laws-of-physics.html
