Keep rolling! Nothing will change for a while. Only the Dublin Event Guide might :-O – Some events for the weekend and lots for during the week.
Hi all!
Sooo, if I interpret the statements by Taoiseach and other government representatives correctly, then we will remain in Level 5 lockdown at least until the end of February, but possible until mid or end of March. :-O The next meeting to discuss Level 5 will be on Tuesday, but Michael Martin said that we will not get out for at least another 4 weeks and that the government will review every four week. So that means the next review after Tuesday will be so close to the end of March that it will probably be extended at least until the middle of March. That’s definitely not great news, but it at least shapes our hopes and expectations and we can now continue doing our best dealing with the restrictions for another while.
At the Dublin Event Guide end, I am working on an idea that will affect you in a positive way. The e-mail that I currently send out is ok, but it is neither pretty nor is it easily readable on mobile phones. The weekly Facebook post is just ugly and much too long and really awkward to read. So the idea would be to make the e-mail much prettier, to overhaul the website and then to move away from posting the weekly newsletter on Facebook, but to invite the Facebook community to either subscribe to the e-mail or to come to the website. So, if you agree that the e-mail should be much nicer and easier readable, please let me know via dublineventguide@gmail.com Unfortunately there will be some additional cost for the software license (approx. EUR 180 per year) that I need to create a prettier newsletter and if any of you could help with that, I would VERY much appreciate your help! THANK YOU! (Links for donations are following a couple of paragraphs down.)
By the way, a good few people contacted me about my suggestion in last week’s Dublin Event Guide that we could be virus free in 2 weeks. I received some VERY good and interesting ideas, suggestions, questions and opinions. I will definitely get back to you all, but I didn’t manage to do so yet last week. Please give me a few more days.
And just before I will tell you about lots of (online) events again, I will need to ask you again for your help. Last week was BAD unfortunately and if I want to improve the “look and feel” of the Dublin Event Guide I need some additional help as outlined above. If you can help PLEASE help to keep the Dublin Event Guide going, because there will definitely be REAL LIFE events again at some point this year!!!
If only 15 people could help with 12 Euro (That’s just one Euro per month for four, sometimes five editions – what a brilliant deal!) then we would have the EUR 180 for the software license. Can we achieve this together?
Please use the links below! YOUR contribution really counts!
Please donate via www.paypal.me/DublinEventGuide
or for Revolut users among you just via 0872931571.
If PayPal or Revolut don’t work for you, you can buy one or two or even three virtual coffees (or Hot Chocolates!) for the Dublin Event Guide and you can do that on the “Buy Me a Coffee” page here www.buymeacoffee.com/DublinEventG .
And if you come to www.DublinEventGuide.com and check out some of the ads and click on the ones that you find interesting, that also helps with a few cent!
Thank you!!

You want for more events and suggestions?
I found a few more things to keep you going or that you might find interesting:
1) Take a Free Virtual Tour of Five Egyptian Heritage Sites
You can travel across the globe …on your computer and if you need to home school your kids, make the trip as exciting as possible. Here are some sites that you can visit in Egypt. Combine that with a number of resources about the pyramids that you can find on YouTube and an summary of the history that you glean from Wikipedia and you are a knowledgeable tour guide that will be able to capture the attention of your youngster(s) fort he whole duration of your tour.

2) BALLYFERMOT ARTS FESTIVAL (18-31 Jan)
The Ballyfermot Arts Festival with music performances, drama, film, poetry, a book launch and historic talks continues until 31 January and all events are online. The Facebook is here www.facebook.com/Ballyfermot-Festival-2021-1543988855699796 and a PDF with the full programme (all events are free!) is at www.DublinEventGuide.com/media/Ballyfermot_Progamme_2021.pdf
3) LEARN A NEW SKILL WITH ONLINE COURSES – Special Offer
Is learning a new skill part of your plans for the new year? Maybe it is a language or an instrument or some technical skills? Or NLP or some Business related “soft skills”? Check out Udemy via the link below, they have thousands of courses and there is good chance that what you are looking for is available.
The lowest cost for courses this month will be around 12.99. Check out the website at shor.by/GqCk And if you buy through that link, you help the Dublin Event Guide! ;-)
4) READ MORE BOOKS WHILE IN LOCKDOWN
For physical books and e-books I recommend Book Depository because they are usually cheaper than others and they always include delivery for free and by using this link you help the Dublin Event Guide when you purchase a book and it doesn’t cost you a cent: shor.by/BookDepository .
And this is it for another week! Have a good weekend and new week.
You are receiving this Dublin Event Guide e-mail because you have subscribed to it. It is a free service that informs you about free events in Dublin and while it was a weekly newsletter for more than 12 years, it is now an irregular newsletter, but always when big things happen. If you don’t want to know about all these free events in Dublin anymore, you can unsubscribe via the link below.
If you want to hear about free events more frequently, then go to www.fb.com/DublinEventGuide where at least once weekly free event details will be posted.
