Dublin Event Guide 875: Dublin is full of culture! – Bohemia Flea Market, Pirates of Parliament Street, Howth Roots and Blues Festival, Summer in Dublin

Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events)

Dublin is full of culture!

Bohemia Flea Market, Pirates of Parliament Street, Howth Roots and Blues Festival, Summer in Dublin

Hi!!

After the super busy bank holiday weekend, this week has a few less events at the weekend. But during the week there are a large amount of events run by the libraries. These library events are mainly for smaller kids, so if you have kids check the library events out.

This might also be a good opportunity to tell other parents of small kids about all these great events and maybe they are even interested in the Dublin Event Guide. Subscribing is easy and free on the Dublin Event Guide website at www.DublinEventGuide.com

All events in the Dublin Event Guide listings are free and there are MANY events every week! If you read this on Facebook, then you will see that only events for Saturday and Sunday are there. The e-mail newsletter (and the website) will contain ALL events, so make sure that you don’t just check the information on Facebook.

This week, the Pirates of Parliament Street and the Summer in Dublin Events in Dublin City continue for another bit. In North County Dublin the Donabate-Portrane Summer Festival (with Fireworks on Sunday) will take place. If music is your thing, you have to check out the Howth Roots and Blues Festival. And on Sunday the “Bohemia Flea Market” takes place, currently the biggest flea market in Dublin.

Sometimes I post an earlier “top events this weekend” post on Facebook, but this week my Laptop crashed and it took some time to restore, so no earlier heads-up. Apologies.

Donations in August:
EUR 127

(By the end of the month, this number has to reach or exceed EUR 200 to guarantee the continuation of the Dublin Event Guide.)

If the Dublin Event Guide helps you to find out about free events in Dublin, please help with a donation.

The counter here shows the current donation status. By the end of the month EUR 200 will be subtracted to pay the bills. If more money has been donated, the rest will be carried forward. If donations have stopped below the EUR 200, the missing amount will be carried over.

Last week Maria, Olga, Charis and Angie helped with a donation. Thank you so much! These donations keep the Dublin Event Guide alive and it is truly a wonderful group of people who help keeping the Dublin Event Guide going and you could be part of it!

With the above counter you know at all times where we stand and when donating is needed. Donations keep the Dublin Event Guide alive and all donors will also get some additional bonuses.

Here are some more details about donations:
Any amount is appreciated, but if you are looking for a recommendation, then I suggest a donation of 12 Euro per year. – That’s just one Euro per month and you get FOUR Dublin Event Guides for that Euro! If your funds are limited, but you still want to help, you can buy a virtual coffee for just EUR 4. All donations will be used in full for the Dublin Event Guide.

To donate, use the Dublin Event Guide Donation Page here: gturl.eu/DEGdonate. It is really easy to use and uses Stripe’s trustworthy payment processing. You can even sign up for a yearly subscription on the donation page! Yearly subscriptions will give some important financial stability and reliability to the Dublin Event Guide and are therefore very much appreciated! (Look for the RED subscription buttons at the bottom of the Donation Page.)

In case the donation page doesn’t work for you, the old links are here: You can donate via www.paypal.me/DublinEventGuide or for Revolut users among you, just use @joergbrb or now also revolut.me/joergbrb
(If possible, please send your full name and e-mail address as a message with the payment via PayPal or Revolut so that I can tell you about bonuses for donors when available.)

To buy one or two or even three virtual coffees for the Dublin Event Guide, come to the “Buy Me a Coffee” page here www.buymeacoffee.com/DublinEventG

And there is one other way to help and it is even free: If you come to www.DublinEventGuide.com and check out some of the ads and click on the ones that you find interesting, that also helps with a few cent! ?

Thank you!!

And there is more…

+++ Homecoming for Ireland’s Olympians
The success of the Irish Team at the Olympic Games in France will be celebrated with a huge civic reception outside the GPO on O’Connell Street on Monday at 12:30. www.dublincity.ie/news/public-homecoming-team-ireland-paris-olympics Access to the site will be from O’Connell Bridge only. The Irish Olympic Team will be at the event. Admission is free and no tickets are required.
(Both Green and Red LUAS will be affected by a long suspensions of parts of their route. From 09:30-22:00 the effects will be felt. Buses will be diverted away from O’Connell Street.)

+++ NATIONAL HERITAGE WEEK
From Sat 17 August until Sunday 25 August the National Heritage Week will take place in Ireland. There will be more than 300 events in Dublin and you will be able to find them all via this link www.getthislink.com/HeritageWeekDublin2024 Out of the 304 events, 282 are free, so you should find something interesting among them. I will list a few in next week’s Dublin Event Guide, but since there are sooo many events, this will be a tiny fraction of all events. So I recommend that you have a look at the events list via the link above and plan your Heritage Week events already- Because many events require booking, this makes a lot of sense. ;-)

+++ LEARN A NEW SKILL WITH ONLINE COURSES
Is there ever a wrong time for learning a new skill or enhancing what you are already interested in? Maybe it is a language or an instrument or some technical skills? Or something completely different? Nearly every subject is there! Check out Udemy via the link below, they have thousands of courses and there is good chance that what you are looking for is available. Nearly all the courses are REALLY affordable!
The lowest price most of the time is EUR 12.99. Sometimes it even goes down further to EUR 9.99 and when that happens (about once or twice a year), I will tell you. But even 12.99 is definitely a good price for what you get! – Check out the website at www.getthislink.com/Udemy22 And if you buy through that link, you also help the Dublin Event Guide! :-)

+++ SUMMER IN DUBLIN
Dublintown, the business organisation that represents shops and businesses in Dublin City, has announced a summer event programme called “Summer in Dublin”. It will run from 07 July to 25 August with street performances, dance and music every Sunday from 16:00-20:00.
A list of performers is mentioned and a list of locations, but unfortunately Dublin Town seems to want to surprise people in Dublin with pop-up performances, instead giving us a chance to plan attending the “Summer in Dublin” events.
Locations are from South Ann Street to Drury Street on the southside and Liffey Street, Capel Street, North Earl Street and Wolfe Tone Park on the northside.
Musical attractions are a New Orleans Jazz band New Brass Kings, three-piece trad band Sin Deri Si and Latin group Havana Club Trio.
There will also be dance and art and HOPEFULLY Dublintown will tell us over the next few weeks where the events will take place.
