Dublin Event Guide 779: Eight Festivals! – Dublin Festival of History; Dublin Arts & Human Rights Festival, COP ON! The Festival

Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events)

Eight Festivals!

Dublin Festival of History; Dublin Arts & Human Rights Festival, COP ON! The Festival

Hi!

After two weeks of super late arriving Dublin Event Guides, the next few weeks I will focus on bringing the delivery time forward again. Keep your fingers crossed that it will work out! ;-) (Update: It didn’t work perfectly yet, only some small improvement, but next week will be better!!)

I know this is something ALL of you prefer and you might wonder why this is not my HIGHEST priority and this is the reason: The Dublin Event Guide is a spare time project and I don’t earn a cent from it. For that reason it has to be squeezed in the time that I have available.

Currently, I start working on the Dublin Event Guide on a Friday evening (sometimes later than I prefer!) and then I work through the night (sleep is overrated :-D) until it is finished the next morning. I will do my best in the next few weeks to start a little earlier, speed up the process and be more efficient. I might have to limit the number or listing of some of the events to streamline it, but hopefully the changes will be minimal.

Ohh and if anybody wants to sponsor me so that I don’t need to work on Fridays and can focus on the Dublin Event Guide, then even more improvements will be possible. :-)

With the attempt of sending the Dublin Event Guide out earlier comes the consequence that for the many festivals that take place at the moment, I will not be able to list every single event. So I have the events mentioned at the bottom of this newsletter and there are MANY. EIGHT (!!) festivals with free events either take place at the moment or will start during the week.

Here is the list: Dublin Festival of History; Dublin Arts & Human Rights Festival; Dublin Theatre Festival; COP ON! The Festival; Irish, Spanish, Latin American Festival; dlr Festival of Inclusion 2022; Open House Dublin 2022; Red Line Festival.

Donations in October:
EUR 100

(By the end of the month, this number has to reach or exceed EUR 200 to guarantee the continuation of the Dublin Event Guide.)

If the Dublin Event Guide helps you to find out about free events in Dublin, please help with a donation.

The counter here shows the current donation status. By the end of the month EUR 200 will be subtracted to pay the bills. If more money has been donated, the rest will be carried forward. If donations have stopped below the EUR 200, the missing amount will be carried over.

The great people that donated last week were Mirjam and Louis! Thank you so much! Your donation will keep the Dublin Event Guide alive and will motivate me to continue week after week. I appreciate you and your support!

I am not worried yet, as this is only the second of five weekends in October, but if donations continue on the same low level as in the last 4 weeks, then we will miss the target of EUR 200 this month. So if you can, please help with a donation!

With the above counter you know at all times where we stand and when donating is needed. Donations keep the Dublin Event Guide alive and all donors will also get some additional bonuses. The first of those bonuses is described above.

Here are some more details about donations:
Any amount is appreciated, but if you are looking for a recommendation, then I suggest a donation of 12 Euro per year. – That’s just one Euro per month and you get FOUR Dublin Event Guides for that! If your funds are limited, but you still want to help, you can buy a virtual coffee for just EUR 3. All donations will be used in full for the Dublin Event Guide.

To donate, use the Dublin Event Guide Donation Page here: gturl.eu/DEGdonate. It is really easy to use and uses Stripe’s trustworthy payment processing. You can even sign up for a yearly subscription on the donation page! Yearly subscriptions will give some important financial stability and reliability to the Dublin Event Guide and are therefore very much appreciated! (Look for the RED subscription buttons at the bottom of the Donation Page.)

In case the donation page doesn’t work for you, the old links are here: You can donate via www.paypal.me/DublinEventGuide or for Revolut users among you, just use @joergbrb or now also revolut.me/joergbrb
(If possible, please send your full name and e-mail address as a message with the payment via PayPal or Revolut so that I can tell you about bonuses for donors when available.)

To buy one or two or even three virtual coffees for the Dublin Event Guide, come to the “Buy Me a Coffee” page here www.buymeacoffee.com/DublinEventG

And there is one other way to help and it is even free: If you come to www.DublinEventGuide.com and check out some of the ads and click on the ones that you find interesting, that also helps with a few cent! ?

Thank you!!

And there is more…

+++ Dublin Festival of History (26 Sep-16 Oct)
With more than 130 events from 26 Sept until 16 Oct, the Dublin Festival of History is some busy festival. There are lots and lots of talks and last week I attempted to list them all int he Dublin Event Guide. But it took hours to do that. So this week I only included a few interesting events and the rest you can find on dublinfestivalofhistory.ie/
If you have an interest in talks about historic events, don’t miss out on this great programme. All events are free, but most require booking.

+++ Red Line Festival
The Red Line Festival is brought to you by South Dublin Libraries and Arts and it takes place from the 13-16 October. The events celebrate all things literary. So if literature is spoken, written, sung, played, illustrated or thought, it will fit in the festival. Many events are free and you can find all details here redlinefestival.ie/

+++ LOW PRICED BOOKS (WITH FREE DELIVERY)
Book Depository is the place where you can buy low priced books, usually for better prices than on Amazon. And Book Depository always delivers for free. By buying books from Book Depository you will also help the Dublin Event Guide for no additional cost to you, so two good reasons in one. Use this link: shor.by/BookDepository
  .

+++ Open House Dublin 2022
Open House Dublin is an event by the Irish Architecture Foundation mainly on 15+16 October, but there are already a few tours on Friday 14 Oct.
Open House focuses on architecture. It looks at the buildings around us and you will be able to visit these buildings, go on a guided tour and find out from architects what was the idea behind how they are built.
At Open House there will be lots of tours in interesting buildings in Dublin on Saturday and Sunday and while some tours are walk-in tours where you just join a queue outside and wait until it is your turn, many require booking. So check the website www.openhousedublin.com and make a plan for the next weekend.

+++ LEARN A NEW SKILL WITH ONLINE COURSES
Is there ever a wrong time for learning a new skill or enhancing what you are already interested in? Maybe it is a language or an instrument or some technical skills? Or somethign cmpletely different? Nearly every subject is there! Check out Udemy via the link below, they have thousands of courses and there is good chance that what you are looking for is available. Nearly all the courses are REALLY affordable!
The lowest price most of the time is EUR 12.99. Sometimes it even goes doen further to EUR 9.99 and when that happens (about once or twice a year), I will tell you. But even 12.99 is definitely a good price for what you get!

Check out the website at www.getthislink.com/Udemy22 And if you buy through that link, you also help the Dublin Event Guide! :-)

And this is it for another week! Have a great weekend and good new week.

Take care,
