Dublin Event Guide 771: Heritage Week in Ireland … with 146 events in Dublin and a total of 1512 events in Ireland!

Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events)

Heritage Week in Ireland

with 146 events in Dublin and a total of 1512 events in Ireland!

Good Morning!

Another glorious summer weekend ahead and I can’t believe how lucky we are this year. This is a transformed country when the temperature is up, the sun is out and the people are smiling.

Last night even the moon joined the party. It was a clear night with a few strategically scattered clouds and a big bright moon. Just wonderful! (Check it out tonight, maybe it looks as pretty as last night.)

Speaking of “pretty”, today is the start of Heritage Week and you will be able to visit lots of pretty buildings and listen to great talks about the Heritage in Ireland this coming week.

One of the highly interesting opening “events” is that today Dublin Castle is open for free for all visitors. So, get the whole family or all your friends together and bring them to Dublin Castle.

And if you are looking for me (I know you are not, but just saying. :-D), you will find me in Bushy Park on Saturday and Sunday. I mentioned before that I got addicted to Padel Tennis a few years ago and this week we have a big tournament at the Bushy Park Tennis and Padel Club.

77 teams (two people in each team) will compete this weekend and I am one of them. I totally love Padel and if you want to know more about it, feel free to drop in. Admission is free and if you ask at the clubhouse for me, I will explain Padel to you.

Donations in August:
EUR 259

(By the end of the month, this number has to reach or exceed EUR 200 to guarantee the continuation of the Dublin Event Guide.)

If the Dublin Event Guide helps you to find out about free events in Dublin, please help with a donation.

The counter here shows the current donation status. By the end of the month EUR 200 will be subtracted to pay the bills. If more money has been donated, the rest will be carried forward. If donations have stopped below the EUR 200, the missing amount will be carried over.

The great people that donated last week were Renata and Fernanda! Thank you so much! Your donation will keep the Dublin Event Guide alive and will motivate me to continue week after week. I appreciate you and your support!

With the above counter you know at all times where we stand and when donating is needed. Donations keep the Dublin Event Guide alive and all donors will also get some additional bonuses. The first of those bonuses is described above.

Here are some more details about donations:
Any amount is appreciated, but if you are looking for a recommendation, then I suggest a donation of 12 Euro per year. – That’s just one Euro per month and you get FOUR Dublin Event Guides for that! If your funds are limited, but you still want to help, you can buy a virtual coffee for just EUR 3. All donations will be used in full for the Dublin Event Guide.

To donate, use the Dublin Event Guide Donation Page here: gturl.eu/DEGdonate. It is really easy to use and uses Stripe’s trustworthy payment processing. You can even sign up for a yearly subscription on the donation page! Yearly subscriptions will give some important financial stability and reliability to the Dublin Event Guide and are therefore very much appreciated! (Look for the RED subscription buttons at the bottom of the Donation Page.)

In case the donation page doesn’t work for you, the old links are here: You can donate via www.paypal.me/DublinEventGuide or for Revolut users among you, just use @joergbrb or now also revolut.me/joergbrb
(If possible, please send your full name and e-mail address as a message with the payment via PayPal or Revolut so that I can tell you about bonuses for donors when available.)

To buy one or two or even three virtual coffees for the Dublin Event Guide, come to the “Buy Me a Coffee” page here www.buymeacoffee.com/DublinEventG

And there is one other way to help and it is even free: If you come to www.DublinEventGuide.com and check out some of the ads and click on the ones that you find interesting, that also helps with a few cent! ?

Thank you!!

And there is more…

+++ HERITAGE WEEK
From 13-21 August the yearly Heritage Week takes place all over Ireland and in the Greater Dublin area there are 146 (!!) events.
Definitely too many to list them all here, so you will have to go to the website and have a search yourself. You can use the search function at www.heritageweek.ie/event-listings and select the filters you want, or you can have a look at all 146 events free in the Greater Dublin area via this direct link (with filters applied): www.getthislink.com/HeritageWkDublin
In total there are 1512 events all over Ireland! That is the busiest event week/festival that I know of.
If you are looking for events by venue, you can also look at the list of all events on the Rathfarnham Castle Facebook Page: www.facebook.com/rathfarnhamcastle/ or on the Dublin Castle Facebook Page: www.facebook.com/opwdublincastle or the Casino in Marino Page: www.facebook.com/casinomarinodublin/ Farmleigh House also has a few more events than normal: farmleigh.ie/calendar-of-events/

+++ Low Priced Books (with free delivery)
Book Depository is the place where you can buy low priced books, usually for better prices than on Amazon and Book Depository always delivers for free. And by buying books from Book Depository you will also help the Dublin Event Guide for no additional cost to you. Use this link: shor.by/BookDepository
  .

+++ Dublin Ports Festival
Ports, Past and Present and Five Lamps Arts Festival invite to an app launch that will explore the depth of history and heritage of the five active ferry ports on the Irish Sea: Dublin Port, Rosslare Harbour, Holyhead, Fishguard and Pembroke Dock. And there are a whole range of events around that as well. Check them out at epicchq.com/event/dublin-ports-festival/

+++ Street artists in Dun Laoghaire in August
From 03-14 August some of the best street artists from Ireland and abroad will come to Dun Laoghaire to create art on the streets. While Dublin City brings street artists of amazing pieces of art to court, is Dun Laoghaire welcoming them to beautify the town with their bold and bright designs to the walls of the town. The event is called Dun Laoghaire Anseo and if i can find out more, I will let you know over the next little while. www.dlrcoco.ie/en/dlanseo

+++ LEARN A NEW SKILL WITH ONLINE COURSES
Is there ever a wrong time for learning a new skill or enhancing what you are already interested in? Maybe it is a language or an instrument or some technical skills? Or NLP or some Business related “soft skills”? Check out Udemy via the link below, they have thousands of courses and there is good chance that what you are looking for is available. Nearly all the courses are REALLY affordable!
The lowest price most of the time is EUR 12.99, so definitely do-able. Occasionally it goes even below that and I will mention it here when I find out. Check out the website at shor.by/GqCk And if you buy through that link, you also help the Dublin Event Guide! :-)

+++ Natural History Museum partially re-opened!
After two long long years, the Natural History Museum, also known as the “Dead Zoo” has re-opened its doors on Tuesday 02 August. The museum was closed for renovation and the works is still not completed, but the ground floor has been re-opened and at least some part will therefore be accessible again.
Admission will remain free, but different to before, you will now need to book a timed ticket to access the museum. A visit is expected to take approx. 45 minutes.
All details are here www.museum.ie/en-IE/Museums/Natural-History/Visitor-Information/Reopening-FAQs Since large parts of the museum will stay closed, it will take another good while until events will return, but it is great that the museum is open again.

And this is it for another week! Have a great weekend and good new week.

Take care,

–Joerg (dublineventguide@gmail.com)
