Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events)

Summer in Dublin continues

Dublin Makers, Bray Air Display, Viking Picnic, many Museum events

Good Morning!

Around this time every year, I remember this once-iconic and famous song about Dublin, by the Irish band Bagatelle. The song is called “Summer in Dublin” and it was played more than 3.3 million times on YouTube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMhWll_mfGk

The 46A bus still exists (although not THAT much longer as far as I heard, because the numbering will change) and if you listen to the song, you will recognise many other bits that will remind you of Dublin, no matter if you live here, or once lived here.

IThe song was released on Bagatelle’s “Gold” album in 1998, that’s 24 (!) years ago and I can just hear some of you saying “Wow, how time flies, I remember when that song came out!” But it actually was already written in 1980. That is an amazing 42 years ago. :-O (That far back I hardly knew that Ireland existed! NO joke!)

Unfortunately Liam Reilly, who wrote the song and who was the Bagatelle front man and singer died in January 2021, aged just 65, so Bagatelle live gigs ended regrettably just before the pandemic, but their great work lives on in their songs.

The feedback/response is tremendous, so I will leave this hear for one more week: In the last two Event Guides I mentioned that I will start a new newsletter that will help looking at the life options we have, give some ideas and suggestions about these life decisions and how to be/become our best self and be very inspiring and motivational.

Well over 50 people have already signed up for it and I am looking forward to provide help, support and ideas. You might know that I am trained as a Life/Success Coach and as a Business Coach and I will use my knowledge from that area in that new newsletter. Are you interested?

It will be completely free and sent from my “Inspiring Leadership Academy”. If you want to get great ideas and suggestions and Inspiring News, sign up here www.getthislink.com/InspiringNews (it will just take 20 seconds!) The first edition will be sent in the coming week, so this is a sot of last chance to sign up and to be one of the “founding members”. :-D

Donations in July:
EUR 299

(By the end of the month, this number has to reach or exceed EUR 200 to guarantee the continuation of the Dublin Event Guide.)

If the Dublin Event Guide helps you to find out about free events in Dublin, please help with a donation.

The counter here shows the current donation status. By the end of the month EUR 200 will be subtracted to pay the bills. If more money has been donated, the rest will be carried forward. If donations have stopped below the EUR 200, the missing amount will be carried over.

The great people that donated last week were Deirdre, Ciara, Richard! Thank you so much! Your donation will keep the Dublin Event Guide alive and will motivate me to continue week after week. I appreciate you and your support!

With the above counter you know at all times where we stand and when donating is needed. Donations keep the Dublin Event Guide alive and all donors will also get some additional bonuses. The first of those bonuses is described above.

Here are some more details about donations:
Any amount is appreciated, but if you are looking for a recommendation, then I suggest a donation of 12 Euro per year. – That’s just one Euro per month and you get FOUR Dublin Event Guides for that! If your funds are limited, but you still want to help, you can buy a virtual coffee for just EUR 3. All donations will be used in full for the Dublin Event Guide.

To donate, use the Dublin Event Guide Donation Page here: gturl.eu/DEGdonate. It is really easy to use and uses Stripe’s trustworthy payment processing. You can even sign up for a yearly subscription on the donation page! Yearly subscriptions will give some important financial stability and reliability to the Dublin Event Guide and are therefore very much appreciated! (Look for the RED subscription buttons at the bottom of the Donation Page.)

In case the donation page doesn’t work for you, the old links are here: You can donate via www.paypal.me/DublinEventGuide or for Revolut users among you, just use @joergbrb or now also revolut.me/joergbrb
(If possible, please send your full name and e-mail address as a message with the payment via PayPal or Revolut so that I can tell you about bonuses for donors when available.)

To buy one or two or even three virtual coffees for the Dublin Event Guide, come to the “Buy Me a Coffee” page here www.buymeacoffee.com/DublinEventG

And there is one other way to help and it is even free: If you come to www.DublinEventGuide.com and check out some of the ads and click on the ones that you find interesting, that also helps with a few cent! ?

Thank you!!

And there is more…

+++ Dublin Maker
Some of you might remember the name “Dublin Maker Faire”, that’s what is happening on Saturday. Expect makers and innovators to show and explain what they keep themselves busy with. There will be science, technology, art and design on show in a really nice and cooperative atmosphere in a tented village in Merrion Square. A great event with lots to see, learn and discover. All the makers at this year’s event are listed here www.dublinmaker.ie/makers-2022/

+++ Low Priced Books (with free delivery)
Book Depository is the place where you can buy low priced books, usually for better prices than on Amazon and Book Depository always delivers for free. And by buying books from Book Depository you will also help the Dublin Event Guide for no additional cost to you. Use this link: shor.by/BookDepository

+++ Bray Air Display
The Bray Air Display is back and it starts with a practice day on Saturday that might not see a lot of activity in the air and the main Air Display day on Sunday. Events on the ground start at 12:00 on both days. The happenings in the air are kind of random on Saturday, so you can’t really plan anything. On Sunday the fly overs and aerobatics will start at 14:00 and will continue until around 17:00. Unfortunately no schedule is released, so unless you are there the whole day, it is a sort of “pot luck” event. The Red Arrows and the Jordanian Falcons are the two aerobatic shows that are the most interesting. If you travel to Bray, prepare for very busy DARTs and Busses. This year you had to pre-book (and pay) car park spaces in Bray and it seems that they are all booked out now. brayairdisplay.com/

+++ National Sandcastle and Sculpting Competition

Meath, but 40 minutes from Dublin is not tooo long, so if you are interested to look at the creations and watch the creators you can come for free and enjoy. The work on the sculptures will start at 10:30 and the work on the sand castle will begin at 14:30. The judging will happen from 16:00 and participants can win prizes. +++ LEARN A NEW SKILL WITH ONLINE COURSES
Is there ever a wrong time for learning a new skill or enhancing what you are already interested in? Maybe it is a language or an instrument or some technical skills? Or NLP or some Business related “soft skills”? Check out Udemy via the link below, they have thousands of courses and there is good chance that what you are looking for is available. Nearly all the courses are REALLY affordable!
The lowest price most of the time is EUR 12.99, so definitely do-able. Occasionally it goes even below that and I will mention it here when I find out. Check out the website at shor.by/GqCk And if you buy through that link, you also help the Dublin Event Guide! :-)

And this is it for another week! Have a great weekend and good new week.

Take care,

–Joerg (dublineventguide@gmail.com)
