Creating the Future!?

Last events for Heritage Week 2021 and last week for Round Room 200.

Hi all!

A few days ago a friend and mentor of mine, international speaker and leadership expert Steve Farber, posted something on Social Media where he asked “What future will you create?” and it got me thinking. Our future, the future of our families/friends/businesses, of our countries and of the whole world is not pre-determined, but is constantly influenced by us. Some of us have more influence than others, but we ALL have an amount of influence over our world.

But do we really use that influence? And if we do, do we use it in the best possible way? Are you a future creator or do you just let things happen to you? Do you take action or do you let others take you for a ride?

Right now, Ireland needs people who step up. Our politicians and many other people in public decision making roles are not overwhelming most of us with their competence and expertise, to put it mildly. But there are lots of other areas where you could make a difference. It doesn’t have to be in politics! Maybe you can organise an event in your neighbourhood? (We need lots more events than there are at the moment!) Maybe you can actively help some people who need help? Or share your opinions to make sure that they are heard? There are many many ways!

If you have some ideas, but don’t know what to do next, drop me a mail at dublineventguide@gmail.com (Subject: “I have an idea!”) and tell me about it and I will promise to help with some ideas. Separately I am working on a training session (I am trained as a Personal Development and Business Coach.) to work on overcoming some of the things that hold many of us back and my current plan is that everyone who has helped the Dublin Event Guide with a donation will get a free invitation to that training. More details to be revealed soon!! If you want to be the first to find out, send an e-mail to dublineventguide@gmail.com with subject “I want to break free!”

Donations in August:

EUR 405

(By the end of the month, this number has to reach or exceed EUR 200 to guarantee the continuation of the Dublin Event Guide.)

If the Dublin Event Guide helps you to find out about free events in Dublin, please help with a donation.

The counter on the left shows the current donation status. By the end of the month we need to reach or exceed EUR 200 so that I can pay the bills. If more money will be donated, I will carry it forward. If donations stopped below the minimum amount, the amount missing will be carried over.

Last week the wonderful people that donated were Pawel, Audrey, Frank, Mirjam, Pauline, Sheila, Tom and Barbara. THANK YOU! Your donation has arrived and you are appreciated!!

Instead of stopping the counter, I have decided to keep it fully transparent and leave it hereso that you know at all times where we stand and I also decided to keep the donation option there. There will definitely be some additional bonuses, which will be available to the people that have donated. :-)

And here are some more details about donations:
Any amount is appreciated, but If you are looking for a recommendation, then I suggest a donation of 12 Euro per year. – That?? just one Euro per month and you get FOUR Dublin Event Guides for that! If your funds are limited, but you still want to help, you can buy a virtual coffee for just EUR 3. All donations will be used in full for the Dublin Event Guide.

To donate, use the Dublin Event Guide Donation Page here: gturl.eu/DEGdonate. It is really easy to use and uses Stripe’s trustworthy payment processing. You can even sign up for a yearly subscription on the donation page! Yearly subscriptions will give some important financial stability and reliability to the Dublin Event Guide and are therefore very much appreciated! (Look for the RED subscription buttons at the bottom of the Donation Page.)

In case the donation page doesn’t work for you, the old links are here: You can donate via www.paypal.me/DublinEventGuide or for Revolut users among you, just use @joergbrb

To buy one or two or even three virtual coffees for the Dublin Event Guide, come to the “Buy Me a Coffee” page here www.buymeacoffee.com/DublinEventG

And there is one other way to help and it is even free: If you come to www.DublinEventGuide.com and check out some of the ads and click on the ones that you find interesting, that also helps with a few cent! ??

Thank you!!

And there is more…

+++ HERITAGE WEEK 2021 – Last weekend
The National Heritage Week, organised by the Heritage Council, will take place from 14-22 August. Its purpose is to build awareness about the value of heritage and support its conservation.
There are 772 events listed on the “projects” website at www.heritageweek.ie/projects and many of them are online events. Saturday and Sunday are the last two days of Heritage Week 2021, but because a number of online events were video presentations/talks, you can still catch up on a number of them.

In the Greater Dublin area 121 events will happen and you can see them by checking this page www.heritageweek.ie/projects?q=&where%5B%5D=dublin-city&where%5B%5D=dublin-dunlaoghaire-rathdown&where%5B%5D=dublin-fingal&where%5B%5D=dublin-south#listings Unfortunately there is no filter that allows you to filter for online events only, so you will have to search among all 772 events, but there are some really good things happening, so take the time.

+++ Free SUMMER FITNESS in South County Dublin
The Free Summer Fitness events, organised by the South Dublin County Sports Partnership, are continuing. Last week I listed all events, but it is a long long list, so this week I have the link to that list for you here
www.eventbrite.ie/o/south-dublin-county-sports-partnership-29148923093 so that you can check out the events and register directly.

+++ National Gallery tickets available here
The National Gallery is usually free anyway, but in current times you will have to book tickets to get access and you have to enter the building on the Merrion Street side. Tickets are available here: www.nationalgallery.ie/visit-us/book-your-ticket The National Gallery also is running events again and because the events have limited number of spaces, they can book out relatively fast, at least before I can write about the events, so check out the events 1-2 weeks in advance here www.nationalgallery.ie/whats-on and then book tickets for them.

+++ Visit Dublin Castle for free
Until the end of 2021, entry to Dublin Castle is free for all visitors. You will be able to visit the State Apartments on a self-guided tour. There are currently no guided tours and therefore the Medieval Undercroft and Chapel Royal are not accessible. Opening hours are Mon-Sun & Bank Holidays: 09:45-17:45 (last admission 17:15). Tickets can be booked at dublincastle.admit-one.eu/?p=calendar&ev=SELFGUIDE for free there will also a limited number of tickets available at the ticket desk.

+++ Low Priced Books with free delivery
Book Depository is the place where you can buy low priced books, usually for better prices than on Amazon and Book Depository always delivers for free. And by buying books from Book Depository you will also help the Dublin Event Guide for no additional cost to you. Use this link: shor.by/BookDepository
  .

+++ LEARN A NEW SKILL WITH ONLINE COURSES
Is there ever a wrong time for learning a new skill or enhancing what you are already interested in? Maybe it is a language or an instrument or some technical skills? Or NLP or some Business related “soft skills”? Check out Udemy via the link below, they have thousands of courses and there is good chance that what you are looking for is available. Nearly all the courses are REALLY affordable!
The lowest cost for courses this month will be around 12.99. Check out the website at shor.by/GqCk And if you buy through that link, you also help the Dublin Event Guide! :-)

And this is it for another week! Have a great weekend and good new week.

Take care,

–Joerg (dublineventguide@gmail.com)
