Last Hot Weekend?

Festival of Curiosity, Inside Out Library Summer Events,
Round Room 200 Exhibition

Hi all!

Another week over! A week that was filled with plenty of events and super weather, but event life is still very different than before March 2020. And despite pubs and restaurants re-opening for indoor dining on Monday, it doesn’t look likely at all that indoor events will return soon. And the great summer weather is also coming to an end, it seems. Make the most of this weekend before the rain comes back. ;-)

You might have read or heard on Friday that the rules

for indoor hospitality are still not fully signed off and that they might only get finalised on Sunday, just one day before the pubs and restaurants will (probably) be allowed to serve customers again indoors.

The requirement will be that every venue needs to check your Digital Cov id Certificate and your passport (or other photo ID that might be declared acceptable). Then the pub or restaurant needs to take your name and contact details, arrival time and confirmation that the ID and Cert check was done and this information will be saved for 28 days (in a GDPR-compliant way!).

You do not have to pre-book by any law or regulation, but some venues might still insist on it. There will be no time limit and you don’t have to buy any food if you don’t want to. Closing time will be 23:30 and max number of adults at one table is 6. If you leave the premises (for example to smoke outside), you need to tell staff and you need to get a pass to get back in.

For smaller restaurants, especially the GDPR-compliant contact database will be a big challenge. Also the fact that the information must be kept for 28 days, but does not HAVE to be deleted after that time could cause some issues down the line. For now this will (most likely) be the rules, watch this space! There will definitely be changes!

The Dublin Event Guide will most likely help you to find out if there are any free events happening in pubs/restaurants or any other places! In the past I said that it will definitely be there to help you, but the “definitely” has been replaced by “probably” because donations from you have more or less stopped. And if I can’t cover the cost, I will have to stop creating the Dublin Event Guide.

We have reached a critical point and the next two or three weeks will be crucial. With donations I will continue, without donations I will close down the Dublin Event Guide. The future is in your hands! PLEASE help to keep the Dublin Event Guide alive!

Any amount is appreciated, but If you are looking for a recommendation, then I suggest a donation of 12 Euro per year. – That’s just one Euro per month and you get FOUR Dublin Event Guides for that! If your funds are limited, but you still want to help, you can buy a virtual coffee. All donations will be used for the Dublin Event Guide.

To donate, use the Dublin Event Guide Donation Page here: gturl.eu/DEGdonate. It is really easy to use and uses Stripe’s trustworthy payment processing. You can even sign up for a yearly subscription on the donation page! Yearly subscriptions will give some important financial stability and reliability to the Dublin Event Guide and are therefore very much appreciated! (Look for the RED subscription buttons at the bottom of the Donation Page.)

In case the donation page doesn’t work for you, the old links are here: You can donate via www.paypal.me/DublinEventGuide or for Revolut users among you, just use @joergbrb

To buy one or two or even three virtual coffees for the Dublin Event Guide, come to the “Buy Me a Coffee” page here www.buymeacoffee.com/DublinEventG

And there is one other way to help and it is even free: If you come to www.DublinEventGuide.com and check out some of the ads and click on the ones that you find interesting, that also helps with a few cent! ?

Thank you!!

And there is more…

+++ Inside Out Summer Library Events
From Sat 10 July until Sat 14 August, a series of free summer libraries events for for children and families will take place online and outdoors. The outdoors events will be at the libraries in Ballyfermot, Ballymun, Coolock, Phibsboro and Walkinstown. The events are workshops and performances and in most cases require pre-booking. all detail are here: www.dublincitylibraries.ie/ Many events will “sell” out quite quickly, so have a look at events even further in advance. In addition Dublin Libraries have that odd habit to close sales (even if events are not “sold” out yet) a few days before the event takes place, so you really have to plan with a bit of a longer time horizon.

+++ This Man is An Island – Audio Play – Civic Theatre Tallaght
01-31 July – all day
Online Being an adult can be a real challenge sometimes. But as long as you have your friends all will be well. Or maybe not? “This man is an island” is a story of a friendship under pressure. The World is changing. Constantly changing. And it makes the friendship complicated. This Audio Play is performed at the Civic Theatre in Tallaght and admission is free or “Pay What You Can”. Find out more on book tickets via www.civictheatre.ie/whats-on/this-man-is-an-island/

+++ LEARN A NEW SKILL WITH ONLINE COURSES
Is there ever a wrong time for learning a new skill or enhancing what you are already interested in? Maybe it is a language or an instrument or some technical skills? Or NLP or some Business related “soft skills”? Check out Udemy via the link below, they have thousands of courses and there is good chance that what you are looking for is available. Nearly all the courses are REALLY affordable!
The lowest cost for courses this month will be around 12.99. Check out the website at shor.by/GqCk And if you buy through that link, you also help the Dublin Event Guide! :-)

+++ Low Priced Books with free delivery
Book Depository is the place where you can buy low priced books, usually for better prices than on Amazon and Book Depository always delivers for free. And by buying books from Book Depository you will also help the Dublin Event Guide for no additional cost to you. Use this link: shor.by/BookDepository
  .

+++ Visit Dublin Castle for free
Until the end of 2021, entry to Dublin Castle is free for all visitors. You will be able to visit the State Apartments on a self-guided tour. There are currently no guided tours and therefore the Medieval Undercroft and Chapel Royal are not accessible. Opening hours are Mon-Sun & Bank Holidays: 09:45-17:45 (last admission 17:15). Tickets can be booked at dublincastle.admit-one.eu/?p=calendar&ev=SELFGUIDE for free there will also a limited number of tickets available at the ticket desk.

+++ National Gallery tickets available here
The National Gallery is usually free anyway, but in current times you will have to book tickets to get access and you have to enter the building on the Merrion Street side. Tickets are available here: www.nationalgallery.ie/visit-us/book-your-ticket The National Gallery also is running events again and because the events have limited number of spaces, they can book out relatively fast, at least before I can write about the events, so check out the events 1-2 weeks in advance here www.nationalgallery.ie/whats-on and then book tickets for them.

And this is it for another week! Have a great weekend and good new week.

Take care,

–Joerg (dublineventguide@gmail.com)
