Hi all!
At the end of last year, I included a count down timer in the weekly Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events). It was intended to give some hope and something to look forward to and luckily, the date for the re-opening did come and we all enjoyed freedom for another little bit (some maybe a bit too much!?).
This time the situation is very different. There is no count down timer because we have NO idea when Ireland will leave Level 5 and that is madly frustrating. The government (or NPHET) still don’t know what they are doing and why, but the numbers do give them a strong argument. So what can we do?
Firstly, we need to accept the near certain scenario that not much will change by the promised date of 05 March. I would hope that we will see some change after Easter (04 April), but with some surprise I read today that some seem to think that we will stay in lockdown for another 9 weeks!? That would be until the END of April :-O and I think most of us will have gone mad by then.
The next thing is that we need to do is make use of the time to re-focus…away from Covid stories. Arrangements regarding work are different than in the first lockdown last year, but there is still an opportunity to use some additional time to try out a new hobby, add some skills or add some knowledge. Not because you have to, but because it is a great opportunity. You could learn something new, read some books, listen to audiobooks, work on your fitness with bodyweight exercises and lots of other things.
And finally, we have to re-discover culture and this is currently only possible through online events, so if you can, try to “go” to at least one or two events per week. You will find lots of them here! Choose what interests you, but you are too young ;-) to condemn ALL online events! ;-)
Last week the Dublin Event Guide contained 90 (!!) events!! Where else can you find such a great list. I you read this on Facebook then you will NOT see the full newsletter, but only a part and I strongly suggest you click on the link at the very bottom of this post to experience a much nicer Look & Feel of the Dublin Event Guide. If you read this on the dublineventguide.com website, then you will be happy to hear that my next project will be to fix and beautify that website.
If you enjoy the great content in the Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events) and want to keep this weekly newsletter alive, then please consider helping with the cost for keeping it going. Any amount will help, but if you are looking for a recommendation, then I would suggest a donation of 12 Euro per year. That’s just one Euro per month for four, sometimes five editions, where else can you get so much value for so little cost. :-)
I have created a brand new Dublin Event Guide Donation Page here. It is really easy to use and uses Stripe’s payment processing. Try it out and in case it doesn’t work for you, the “old” links are still below. ;-) On this new page, you can even opt for a yearly subscription again so that you don’t need to remember when you donated last. (Look for the RED buttons at the bottom.)
And here are the old links (just in case):
To donate you can use the PayPal or the Revolut link OR you can buy me a virtual coffee. Your contribution really counts! Thank you! :-)
Please donate via www.paypal.me/DublinEventGuide
or for Revolut users among you just use @joergbrb (Revolut is moving away from phone numbers and to addresses like this one.)
If PayPal or Revolut don’t work for you, you can buy one or two or even three virtual coffees (or Hot Chocolates!) for the Dublin Event Guide and you can do that on the “Buy Me a Coffee” page here www.buymeacoffee.com/DublinEventG .
