Hi all!
If you read this on Saturday or Sunday, you probably follow the exodus from Dublin to the Electric Picnic. Right? So, you slept in a bed, with a proper roof over your head and with a proper toilet and maybe even a shower close by? Happy days! ;-)
[ad]
If you are at Electric Picnic and read this, then stop! Save your battery power and enjoy all the great gigs there. Interestingly, the Electric Picnic doesn’t have a huge impact on the free gig scene as you would expect. It seems that many of the bands that don’t play free gigs are gone, but there is no drought for free gigs in Dublin. So nothing to worry about! :-)
Today I am using the “two-stage publishing process” for this Dublin Event Guide. First I will update the smartphone app and the website, then I will add more events and once all is completed, the e-mail will be sent.
This is the FINAL edition.
++++
Thanks to two donations, the amount needed to pay the September bill stands now at EUR 170. I need your help with that, so if you can help in any way, your help will also be VERY much appreciated!!! Make a difference here!
And here is my weekly appeal: The Dublin Event Guide needs your continued help in two areas: Your donations help paying the bills for sending the Dublin Event Guide every week. Just 1 Euro per month (12 Euro per year) would be great, more would be even better. Unfortunately not many subscribers are prepared or able to help, so please don’t rely on others! Your money will be used to pay the monthly EUR 190 bill for sending the newsletter using MailChimp, for webhosting and domain names. I am happy to work 35 hours on the Dublin Event Guide every week without making anything from it, but for the bills I need your help. You can make your donation at www.perfectresults.info/donate.htm using Paypal or CreditCard or send me a mail at dublineventguide@gmail.com if you prefer to pay by bank transfer. Corporate or enterprise sponsors are very welcome too and will get a bundle of benefits as a thank you for their donation, contact me on sponsorship@dublineventguide.com to discuss the details.
And here is the second area where you can help: Without you spreading the word we would have never reached 24,000 subscribers and 65,000 Facebook Likes. Send your friends to www.dublineventguide.com where they can subscribe as well.
————————–
More than 24,000 people receive the Dublin Event Guide every week and we are more than 65,000 people at the Dublin Event Guide Facebook Page at www.facebook.com/DublinEventGuide Check it out and click on LIKE when you are there.
And this is a great opportunity to help the Dublin Event Guide for absolutely no cost to you:
Without putting your hand in your pocket at all you can help the Dublin Event Guide! Just use the ad links in the Dublin News Section and the banner ads in other sections as often as possible when you buy/order goods. If you buy goods immediately (in the same session) after clicking on a link/ad that you find in this publication (for example for Groupon, LivingSocial, Amazon, Book Depository, LastMinute etc), then you help the Dublin Event Guide everytime. This is how it works: The company you buy from will give a small commission (5-8%) to the Dublin Event Guide as a thanks for pointing you in their direction. This might only be 30 cent a go, but if many of you did it every time you buy something online, then it could make a big dent into the EUR 190 needed. Importantly, you do not pay more, but the merchant accepts a slightly smaller profit. So clicking on these ads is helping everybody! Thanks!
Have an event-full weekend and week,
–Joerg

The “Feel Good Slot” at this place in the Dublin Event Guide is to share some inspirational, motivational or thought provoking quotes, stories or video clips. You wonder why I added this section to this e-mail magazine? If your week was great, you might not need it, but most of us had some challenging moments in the last week and there could be more in the coming week and this section is for the people that want to overcome the hurdles, achieve more and remember that despite all, life is great!
Today’s Feel Good Slot quote is one of these reminders that we have heard about and know but keep forgetting:
Most people will never accomplish the long term great because they settle for the short term good. – Reg Saddler
Don’t settle!!!!!!!!!!!
By the way, if you like these quotes and would like to see more of them, follow me on twitter at www.twitter.com/joergst were I post one or two motivational quotes every day. And if you are on Twitter anyway, also follow the Dublin Event Guide on Twitter at www.twitter.com/DublinEventG

This part is important to “keep the show on the road”:
To cover the cost for the Dublin Event Guide I need your help and every week generous and nice Dublin Event Guide readers help with a donation.
Last week Fiona F and Gabriel K were so great to help the Dublin Event Guide with a donation! Thanks a lot! I really appreciate your help! Please keep in mind that without donations there won’t be a Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events): Your donation will ensure that the Dublin Event Guide will continue arriving in your Inbox every week and every donation will benefit EVERY Dublin Event Guide reader!
The cost for sending the weekly newsletter is approx. EUR 190 per month and a donation from you of just EUR 12 per year will ensure that I will be able to pay the bills. Has the Dublin Event Guide helped you to find events that you otherwise wouldn’t have known about, or have you saved money by finding great free events? Then please go to here and give something back if you can!
I appreciate ANY help: EUR 12 would be great (that’s just 25 cent per week!), but even if it is just the price of 2 pints it will help.
You can donate online by following this link to the PayPal&CreditCard donation page. If you want to transfer your donation directly to my account, just send a mail to dublineventguide@gmail.com and I will send you the details.

All events listed in this Event Guide are free of any admission charges (or at least appear to be free) unless otherwise stated. I try to find confirmation in all cases and do my best to double-check the information. However errors can happen and therefore no promise for correctness can be given.

This section is intended to provide some help in picking and choosing from the huge number of events by sharing with you what I will/might or would do. This is not a “best of…” list and if an event is not listed here, it by no means implies that the event is not interesting. Instead my “picks” are just based on my personal preferences. All events mentioned here are described in detail further down.
This weekend my picks are the American Football events in Trinity College on Saturday and because the weather is not so rosy, I will also mention the Science Gallery exhibition here again. For Sunday, the Nepal Ireland day is on this list, but also look at the new and regulated Smithfield Horse Fair. In the evening the Gardiner Street Gospel Choir (shameless plug because I am involved! :-) ) is back after a long summer break.
Green Drinks Dublin is happening on Tuesday and the Free Wednesday is back this Wednesday.

Aidan Killian: The Money Shot – Winners Update
01 September – 20:00 Whelan’s, Wexford Street, Dublin 2
Aidan Killian, a passionate, daring, political comedian will record his new comedy show “The Money Shot” at Whelan’s on 01 September. He tackles subjects that many dare not mention such as banking corruption, religion, whistleblowers and conspiracy theories but with enough charm and humour to get away with it. And the Money Shot is his fifth solo show. It is a thought provoking, witty and inspiring show that explores the history of money and how it impacts society.
Tickets are available via www.whelanslive.com/index.php/aidan-killian-the-money-shot/ for EUR 12 (+service charge).
And for three Dublin Event Guide Readers, Aidan made a pair of tickets available. The winners were Emeline Jonet, Larry Levin and Stevie Gilbert. Congratulations!

Help the Dublin Event Guide! It won’t cost you a cent!
Do you enjoy free events? Does it help you to find out about all these free events simply in one e-mail magazine or on one website? Does the Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events) deliver all this for you and maybe even more? In that case, you probably also would want it to continue forever, right?
To achieve that some money is needed. Donations are a great help, but not everyone feels they can donate at the moment. So here is the solution: If you could help with a donation without having to pay a cent from your own money wouldn’t that be cool? You can!!
When you buy books online, buy them from Book Depository or from Amazon and use these links to go to the website:
Book Depository Amazon
And when you buy from Living Social or Groupon use these links:
Groupon LivingSocial
When you buy holidays (from Lastminute.com, Expedia or Hotels.com) or other products buy them via clicking on the links below:
HMV | Expedia | Lastminute.com | Hotels.com
When you click on the link and then buy, your books/products/holidays etc cost exactly the same as if you went to the website directly. But if you go via the links above, the Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events) will get 5-8% of what you spend as a commission. That’s not a lot, but if you and lots of other people used that link every time, it would amount to a fair amount of crucially important money. Use the links often, actually EVERY time you buy from the relevant site, not just once!
Giving money for free! That’s how easy it is. ;-) THANK YOU!!!
And if you want to donate money directly, then you can do that here: www.perfectresults.info/donation.htm

Aer Lingus College Football Classic
While there are LOADS of different sports in Ireland already, American Football is quite popular in recent years. Previously Croke Park hosted the College Football Classic in Ireland, but the GAA decided that they don’t want anything to do with it in 2016, so the Aviva Stadium has stepped in.
Boston College will play against Georgia Tech and there are a number of (free) pre-match events even if you won’t make it to the match. The free events are all listed in this Dublin Event Guide and if you want to have a look at the website that includes all free and non-free events, find it here: www.collegefootballireland.com/
Allegedly over 48,000 College Football fans will be traveling “from all over the world for the 2016 Aer Lingus College Football Classic”, but I guess “from all over the world” also includes “from around the corner in Dublin” because the sensational headline “1,000 extra seats added between Dublin and Boston to support the Aer Lingus College Football Classic” will possibly not accommodate the thousands of travelling fans…unless the stack them high!? ;-)

Virtual (!?) Course Fair
Some (or maybe many) of you know that “Which Course” ran a regular Which Course Expo. I went to it a number of time and found it quite interesting. The exhibitors at the Expo were Colleges, Business Schools, Adult Education Providers, Distance-learning providers and many other providers of education/courses. They were all in one big room and you could go from stall to stall to ask questions and get brochures.
In September all is different: I got a mail telling me that this year the Which Course Fair will be an ONLINE fair. And the e-mail then describes enthusiastically:
“Which Course Virtual Week is Ireland’s first online courses fair. The event takes place over six days this September and is an innovative new way of connecting students with colleges and course providers. Like a traditional educational fair, students can collect prospectuses and course details, and they have the opportunity to meet with educational institutions, talk through their options, and enrol in a course.”
Well, they just described the function of a website and called the whole thing a “Virtual Online Course Fair”. Why not call it a website where you can find all information about courses? And what is this limit to six days in September about? They haven’t realised that websites can stay online longer than a week? ;-)
But seriously, I do understand why renting an exhibition venue is not the most attractive thing with the again horrendously high prices of such venues in Dublin, but week-long virtual fairs don’t really do it for me.
If you want to check it out, the virtual fair was announced in the e-mail as from 05-10 Sept, but on the website at www.whichcourseexpo.ie the dates are now 12-17 Sept.

Based on your feedback, I have decided to do the following with the Exhibition section in this newsletter from now on: I will provide you with a link to a near-comprehensive listing of exhibitions provided by www.visualartists.ie . For me to list all exhibitions would only be doubling their good work and would be an inefficient use of my resources. The link is www.visualartists.ie/category/listings/dublin/
On top of that I will every now and then include here a small selection of exhibitions that either are not mentioned in the Visual Artist listing or are note-worthy to be mentioned separately.

Voices of Memory – Walk & Talk at sound art installation
30 June – 30 Sept
National War Memorial Gardens, Islandbridge, Dublin 8
Voices of Memory is a riverside sound art installation by Christina Kubisch at the Irish National War Memorial Gardens to remember the more than 49,000 Irish people who died in the First World War. In 1923, these names were published in Irish Memorial Records 1914-1918. Consisting of eight volumes, these records, beautifully designed and illustrated by Irish artist Harry Clarke, are housed nearby in the Irish National War Memorial Gardens.
Almost the entire list of these names was read by volunteers of different ages and accents from across Ireland. The sound installation is based on the flow of these male and female voices playing over the bank of the river.
Admission is free. www.goethe.de/ins/ie/en/ver.cfm?fuseaction=events.detail&event_id=20767264

Seditious Types, Legacy of the Printers of 1916 – Exhibition
07 May – October (Mon-Fri 09:00-17:00, Sat+Sun 14:00-17:00, closed bank holiday weekends)
National Print Museum, Beggars Bush Barracks, Haddington Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4
The exhibition “Seditious Types – Legacy of the Printers of 1916” will explore the role of printers active in 1916 and the central role of printed media in shaping the image and meaning of the Easter Rising.
Politics and the print industry had a complex relationship in 1916 Ireland. As a commercial sector the print industry produced vast amounts of stationary and advertising for the main political parties and the British administration. This often resulted in material from varying political points of view being produced in the same printing shops. However, a number of print shops were associated with the Gaelic League and the nationalist literary movement. This group of printers actively published works which would not have been printed by the mainstream printers of the time, including works by Yeats, Synge and O’Casey. In recognition of the power of print to inform and win public opinion, a nationalist print counter-culture existed in the form of journals, pamphlets and books. This ‘mosquito press’ circulated mainly in Dublin among radical political activists. In the case of the more seditious groups and individuals, small printing presses were often established in secret locations. By 1916 many of the key political activists were printers, compositors and editors.

Magazine Fort – Guided Tour
10:00 – 16:30, Sat 03 Sep
Magazine Fort, Phoenix Park, Dublin 8
The Magazine Fort in Phoenix Park is unusually neglected and at the same time unusually rich in history. Many have seen it as a barred off concrete fortress in a corner of Phoenix Park and even more don’t even know or have forgotten that it exists. The old Phoenix House, the home of the British Viceroy, was on the site where the fort was built from the early 17th century and then in 1734 the Fort was built and extended in 1801.
In 1916 the Fort was raided by the rebels who expected to find a lot of explosives there, but found the Fort nearly empty. In 1939 the IRA raided the Fort and stole more than a million rounds of ammunition, but most of it was recovered over the following weeks.
Since 1988, the Irish Army doesn’t use the Fort anymore and gave it back to the Office of Public Works (OPW), but not much good has happened to the Fort in the last 28 years (!!) and there were numerous speculations about the reasons for that.
Finally, this year, there will be guided tours at the Fort for three months from 31 July until the end of October. The tours take place on Sundays and Fridays at 10:00, 12:00 and 14:30 and only 20 places are available on each tour.
Tickets are available at the Phoenix Park Visitor Centre on a first come, first served basis and can not be pre-booked. A shuttle bus will bring the ticket holders to the Fort.
I definitely want to visit the Magazine Fort, so you will find me in the queue at some stage.

SEEING – Science Gallery Exhibition
12:00 – 18:00, Sat 03 Sep
Science Gallery, Pearse Street, TCD, Dublin 2
The exhibition “SEEING – What are you looking at?” (24 June – 25 Sept 2016) in the Science Gallery is exploring the sensory experience of vision, understanding and perception. It looks at how us human beings see by using eye tracking technology, eye tests and colour perception, but it also shows how machines see and what their limitations are.
It is a great exhibition full of intriguing exhibits, some are very clear, others need some more explanation or you should at least read the explanatory labels that every exhibit has.
Like all Science Gallery exhibitions, SEEING is suitable for all ages with a particular focus on the age group of 15-25, but I would say that children from 10 years of age can understand the whole exhibition if they get some additional explanations and there are even some exhibits that would work for younger children.
When you go to see the exhibition, get help from the Science Gallery mediators! They are helpers (usually students or graduates) that know the whole exhibition inside out and are very happy to help with a lot more information than the little labels at the exhibits can provide. Use their excellent service and it will help you soo much more to have a better experience
The Science Gallery has very visitor friendly opening hours of Tue-Fri 12:00-20:00 and Sat+Sun 12:00-18:00. Admission is free.

Smithfield Horse Fair
09:00 – 13:00, Sun 04 Sep
Smithfield Plaza, Dublin 7
The Smithfield Horse Fair was a long standing institution where for many years on the first Sunday in every month, horse traders (mainly from the travelling community) came together to sell and buy horses. If I remember right, the fair is a right that is firmly written down. However, bad treatment of animals, anti-social behaviour and other problems (even a shooting) turned this horse market into a nightmare for Dublin City.
It seems they couldn’t stop it or make it illegal, but they were able to limit the market to twice per year and so the new highly regulated Smithfield Horse Fair takes place on the first Sunday in March and in September.
Initially an attempt was made to add music, storytelling and other entertainment to the event so that the horse trading would be pushed in the background, but that didn’t work. So now it is back to horse trading as the main purpose.
Trader need to register with Dublin City and get a trading license for the day and with all these restrictions the market is definitely not what it was before … and that is a good thing and a bad thing.
Did it solve the problem? Well, it is highly unlikely that the horse traders limit themselves now to only selling and buying horses twice a year. So if they buy and sell more frequently, then that means the trading happens elsewhere where the authorities maybe can’t keep an eye on it. Consequently the problem might have gone away for Dublin, but if we don’t see it, it doesn’t mean it is not happening!
——————–
Now the big questions that people ask: 1) What is there to do? 2) I love animals. In the interest of the horses, should I go to the Horse Fair or stay away?
1) There is not much to do at the event, but you will see a good few horses and a horse fair is a bit of a spectacle. 2) Many have the concern that going to the Horse Fair would support bad treatment of animals because sellers and buyers at the fair have been found in the past to mistreat the horses and ponies. However, your attendance (or not) will not have any impact on the horse fair and will also not influence the sellers or buyers to treat the animals in any other way than they normally do. Because the authorities are expected to be there in big numbers the horse handlers are probably on their best behaviour anyway. So it is unlikely that your attendance or non-attendance will have any impact on the welfare of the animals. I would even go one step further and suggest that you do go! You should go to show that there is interest in how the market is conducted.

Dublin Sketchers – Sunday Meet-up

There are some hugely talented people among them and it is a great idea to meet up with others who have the same hobby. Find out on their website below or on their Facebook Page where they will meet and join them if you do some sketching/drawing yourself. Brexit: What impact for French residents in Ireland? – Talk
18:00, Mon 05 Sep
Alliance Francaise, 1 Kildare Street, Dublin 2
The Alliance Francaise invites to the talk “Brexit: What impact for French residents in Ireland?” with Olivier Cadic (Senator for French living abroad) and Patricia Connell (UDI Consular Delegate in London).
Admission is free, but booking is required via the website here.
I have to admit that I am a little confused. Since Ireland is NOT in the UK and Ireland is not leaving the EU, I can’t really see how French residents in Ireland should be affected at all. And since the UK has not even applied for exiting the EU, nobody knows anyway what will be negotiated in the end. An odd event, maybe?

Grief and death online and offline – Talk
13:00 – 14:30, Tue 06 Sep
Trinity Long Room Hub, Fellows’ Square, Trinity College, Dublin 2
“Good grief! Death, existenz and the virtues of a post-digital era” is the title of this talk by Professor Charles Ess (Department of Media and Communication, University of Oslo, Norway) and that title isn’t very helpful, for that reason I am copying the longer description:
“Recent research shows that while some people grieve and memorialize death online, some young people abandon social media in favour of ‘real life’ for the sake of shared grieving. Professor Charles Ess will review recent research, beginning with new forms of digitally-mediated healing and comfort and demonstrate how these findings signal and index broader developments.”
More information is on the website below.

Free Wednesday – Free Entrance to OPW Heritage Sites
09:00, Wed 07 Sep
Various heritage locations in Dublin
Entry charges at some OPW Heritage sites are waived once a month, on the “Free Wednesday”, the first Wednesday of the month. The Office of Public Works (OPW), who looks after the state owned heritage sites, wants to encourage people to visit the historic sites that it manages and has therefore started this great initiative in 2011.
Most OPW managed sites can already be visited for free (e.g. Farmleigh House, Phoenix Park, National Botanic Gardens, Pearse Museum, etc), but some sites that normally charge a fee will be free every first Wednesday as well. In the (extended) Greater Dublin Area this means you can visit the following sites for free: + Dublin Castle, State Apartments + The Casino, Marino + Rathfarnham Castle + Brú na Bóinne Visitor Centre at Newgrange + Glendalough Visitor Centre in Wicklow
In the past Kilmainham Gaol (the most popular site) was also on that list, but it was removed some months ago and is sorely missed. There is a high risk that the Free Wednesday will be restricted further in coming months. Use it as long as it lasts.
As you can imagine, this event is very popular and therefore it is strongly recommended to arrive early at the venues. Once the day’s tickets are given out, you will not get access anymore.

The next Dublin PubhD event is on Wednesday in the Black Sheep Pub and the topics are Grandfathering, Spirituality and Youth suicide.

Opera Librettists and Libretti – Talk
13:00, Thu 08 Sep
Central Library, Ilac Shopping Centre, Henry Street, Dublin 1
A series of three illustrated talks by Michael Grant will discuss Opera Librettists and Libretti. Admission is free, but booking is required via 01-8734333 Ext 5.
Thurs 08 Sept: ‘Lorenzo da Ponte and Mozart’ Thurs 15 Sept: ’19th Century Grand Opera’ Thurs 22 Sept: ‘The librettists of Verdi and Puccini’
In these three talks, illustrated by musical examples, Michael will look at the lives and work of the literary artists who provided the plots and the libretti for many of the great opera composers.
[And if you are not sure what “libretti” really means, here is the definition that I had to look up myself because I wasn’t sure: A libretto is the text used in, or intended for, an extended musical work such as an opera or operetta. Libretti is the plural of libretto and the librettist is the person that creates/writes the libretto.]

Magazine Fort – Guided Tour
10:00 – 16:30, Fri 09 Sep

Please note: This section contains observations taken from the world I live in that strike me as odd. I express my personal opinion and you might not share it. ;-) If you are easily offended by opinions that are not identical with your own, please don’t read this section and I am VERY serious about that!
Apple, Ireland and the Taxes
A school teacher from Mayo and his pack of friends are in trouble for the last few days. Everybody is giving them grief over something that started 10 years ago, even before they had anything to say and were only dreaming of getting the big job.
The bigger boys wrapped our school teacher over the knuckles for something that he didn’t do and maybe didn’t even understand when he found out. But since he is in the driving seat at the moment, it is only fair that he has to take responsibility. And I tell you, he and his mates did screw up! But they screwed up intentionally and would do it again in a heart beat. They took money from these big boys and these big boys are not happy about that at all.
But on the other side, the people our schoolteacher wanted to help with the money (at least that’s what he – probably genuinely thought – are also not happy. And it is not just one gang, but two gangs that are complaining. So the Mayo man gets it from all sides.
We could nearly feel sorry for him….but then he has form on screwing up, he does that regularly probably because he just doesn’t know better, he is just a school teacher, you know and hadn’t learned any better. We all wish we had someone who knew what he or she was doing, but the whole country has NOBODY that knows any better, A little bleak, I know, so we just let him meddle on. Complain regularly, but nothing will ever change.
Our school teacher in this story is, of course, Enda Kenny and the story is about what would be called tax fraud if you and I did it. He and his cabinet weren’t even close to being in government in 2003 (or 2007) when the is special arrangement started. So I have some sympathy with them. The special tax treatment was just another mess that they inherited form the previous Fianna Fail government. BUT they didn’t even try to fix it.
What was happening? Apple (and others do that too!) sold products in other EU countries, but officially all products were sold from Ireland and not from the Apple companies in these other EU countries. So all the money went back to Ireland, even if that shouldn’t have been the case. The other EU countries are (I have to say: understandably!) not happy about that because they lost taxes. But they can’t do much against it, because it is not illegal. They are already annoyed about Ireland just charging this super low 12.5% corporate tax, but that is also not illegal. So they were trying to find something that WAS illegal to shake up the whole cosy arrangement that Ireland has with some companies.
They found out that Ireland is not really charging any taxes at all from Apple because Apple cleverly transferred the income from the other countries from one company in Ireland to another and that other company had got a sweet deal from the Irish government. Still nothing illegal, but dodgy nevertheless AND many would say STUPID!
Apple has a lot of money and to let them run their business virtually tax free in Ireland doesn’t make sense. Sure there are 5000 jobs that they have created, but if they had to pay a few % of tax instead of well below 1%, the deal would still be soooo good, that these 5000 jobs wouldn’t be in big danger.
So the Irish government should certainly have charged them some taxes!
When the other countries found out that Ireland was doing dodgy stuff, they said that this is like paying Apple money for being in Ireland. It is and it isn’t. Either way it is a form of tax fraud. When the guy who imported garlic from China declared it as Apples (which have a significantly lower tax rate than garlic – for NO apparent reason!) he got a prison sentence of 6 (!!) years a few years ago. The Irish government was not doing much else: Re-labelling you could call it! But they are the government, not a garlic importer so they get away with it.
But let’s face it, a little school teacher from Mayo and his gang wouldn’t dare a super big company to pay more, right? It’s an inbuilt inferiority complex that the Irish government has (don’t get me started on offshore oil and how they just give it as a give to the oil companies).
When the EU said that Apple will have to pay EUR 13 billion plus interest, Apple was understandably not too happy about that (despite the fact that they have around $231 billion in cash), the Irish government wasn’t happy either (they don’t like being wrapped over the knuckles and there is definitely a danger that other foreign companies in Ireland also could have to pay a lot of money. I wonder how Microsoft feels about all that!
So the Irish government HAS to challenge the EU decision because of that. They also have to be seen to defend Apple to show other companies that they stand up for the companies that come to Ireland.
But then there is the other side. Because of that inferiority complex, a few years ago the Irish government screwed up when it came to the bank debt and took on responsibility for debt that they shouldn’t have. So these 13bn would help nicely getting rid of some of that debt. Which means now that a lot of people in Ireland say screw Apple, screw the EU and let’s take that money. Maybe we use some of it to pay our debt back, but, hey let’s buy something nice from our windfall. (and that is another opinion).
A right mess? Definitely!! And it looks like a lose-lose situation for everyone involved. Don’t you love politics and even more so, don’t you love our competent politicians? ;-)
