Hi all!
I am getting more and more frustrated week after week because all my efforts of sending this e-mail much earlier to you don’t work out. I am already spending 24 hours on writing the Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events) every week, and I can’t add another few hours by starting earlier (unless I give up my day job). It is also frustrating that the majority of Gmail users (and 46% of the Dublin Event Guide subscribers are Gmail users) don’t see the newsletter anymore. Thanks Google for making it really really hard (after the introduction of the three Inboxes) to reach the genuine subscribers!
I think I need to pick up some strong POSITIVE vibes once this e-mail is on the way to you. :-)
[ad]
Last week I made a suggestion as to how we could get Guinness to fund the Dublin Event Guide despite the lack of success at the Arthur Guinness Project application, but it seems that this my suggestion (I thought it was ingenious ;-) ) didn’t find your approval, so I am back to begging for donations.
But there is LOTS of good news this week: FlightFest, harvest Festival, Granby Park, Sculpture in Context, American Tea Party, Garden Squares Day and on Friday Culture Night! All super news. :-) I am looking forward to this.
When you are out at events, please help spreading the word! Tell the people you meet about the Dublin Event Guide (for Free Evens) and suggest to them to subscribe too. They can do that easily on the right hand side at www.dublineventguide.com and they can also LIKE the Dublin Event Guide at www.facebook.com/DublinEventGuide
And also remember that sending the Dublin Event Guide bills are EUR 170 every month and I need to find that every single month. A contribution of EUR 1 per month from you would be great if you enjoy the Dublin Event Guide. You can either choose to subscribe (EUR 12 per year) or you can contribute with a oonce-off sum here: www.perfectresults.info/donate.htm Every cent will be used for the Dublin Event Guide (fir Free Events).
And without putting your hand in your pocket (for the Dublin Event Guide) at all you can also help by ALWAYS using the ad links in the Dublin News Section and the ads in the Dublin Event Guides when you buy/order goods. If you buy goods immediately after clicking on a link/ad that you find in this e-zine/newsletter (Groupon, LivingSocial, Amazon, Book Depository, LastMinute etc), you help the Dublin Event Guide everytime. This is how it works: The company you buy from (Groupon, Amazon, Living Social, Book Depository etc) registers that you came to them via a link from the Dublin Event Guide and they show their appreciation by giving a small commission (5-8%) to the Dublin Event Guide. This might only be 30 cent a go, but if you did that for all online purchases and if lots of people used it, then it could make a big dent into the EUR 170 needed. Use these links as often as possible it doesn’t cost you a cent and you help big time!
Have a great weekend + week!

The “Feel Good Slot” at this place in the Dublin Event Guide is to share some inspirational, motivational or thought provoking quotes, stories or video clips. You wonder why I added this section to this e-mail magazine? If your week was great, you might not need it, but most of us had some challenging moments in the last week and there could be more in the coming week and this section is for the people that want to overcome the hurdles, achieve more and remember that despite all, life is great!
This week I am picking a video clip that is – in a severely chopped version – going around the Interwebs for the last 2-3 days. The longer version that I found is a lot more interesting because it more shows how things developed.
What happened? A few guys are on a night out in Boston, Lincolnshire (Not: Boston, Massachusetts!) and they come across a damaged bike rail outside a chipper. There is no need for them to bother doing anything about it, but two decide that they should try to fix it. They try but are unsuccessful. However, their initiative convinces some of their friends that it is the right thing to do. First three try it, then four and in the end 5 work together and….fix the bike rail.
There are good people out there, even late at night! And it is not that always the bad win. And what else? The power of teamwork! Only when they all worked together they achieved their goal! Full marks for the guys!
Check the video here.
I don’t get why the Yahoo website calls them “Drunken lads”, because they don’t appear or behave like drunks and even if they had some alcohol earlier it definitely hasn’t impacted them negatively.

This part is important to “keep the show on the road”:
Last week Claire D, Nicola F, Eimear MacH and Barry M were the great people who helped with a crucial donation! Thanks a lot! All the support is much needed. Do you want to be part of the “wonderful people list” as well? Just a small contribution and you will join the ranks of the much appreciated Dublin Event Guide supporters.
Your help is absolutely needed too to ensure that you and everyone else will continue to get the Dublin Event Guide every week. The cost for sending the weekly newsletter is approx. EUR 170 per month and your EUR 12 per year will ensure that I will be able to pay the bills.
Has the Dublin Event Guide helped you to find events that you otherwise wouldn’t have known about, or have you saved money by finding great free events? Then go to www.perfectresults.info/donate.htm and give something back!
I appreciate ANY help: EUR 12 would be great (that’s just 25 cent per week!), but even if it is just the price of 2 pints it will help.
You can donate online by following this link to the PayPal&CreditCard donation page www.perfectresults.info/donation.htm If you want to transfer your donation directly to my account, just send a mail to dublineventguide@gmail.com and I will send you the details.

This section is intended to provide some help in picking and choosing from the huge number of events by sharing with you what I will/might or would do. This is not a “best of…” list and if an event is not listed here, it by no means implies that the event is not interesting. Instead my “picks” are just based on my personal preferences. All events mentioned here are described in detail further down.
There are a good few events taking place this weekend, so what should you do?
I can’t tell you what you should do because I don’t know what interests you, but I can tell you what I will do and maybe that will help.
I still haven’t made it to Granby Park and the Pop-up stint is nearly over, so this week I will have to go there. And I also want to check out the Harvest Festival. I need to go once more to the Science Gallery before the current exhibition closes in two weeks time, but I am not sure yet when I will do that.
Don’t forget that the SARI Soccerfest, Sculptures in Context and the Dragon Boat Regatta also take place.
On Sunday I will go to the FlightFest and afterwards you will find me in Gardiner Street Church where the Gardiner Street Gospel Choir is starting the weekly Gospel Mass after a long summer break. I am doing the sound engineering for the Gardiner Street Gospel Choir, so drop in at some stage and say Hi! if you want to try out Gospel Music.
If the Flightfest didn’t take place, I would probably go to the Great American Tea Party in Phoenix Park, which sounds really interesting and I would also try some of the Garden Square Events.
Nest week the Oktoberfest starts on Thursday and then one of the biggest events of the year: On Friday Culture Night takes place. I only included very few events in this Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events) because the Culture Night Programme is really good and it doesn’t make sense for me to double the work, but I strongly recommend that you take a bit of time before Friday and plan the few Culture Night hours a little.

Streetlife at The Purty Kitchen – Tickets + 3 Course Meal
21 Sept 2013: 21:00
The Purty Kitchen, 4 Old Dunleary Road, Monkstown, Co. Dublin
This is a super competition! The people from the The Purty Kitchen in Monkstown, an award-winning Gastropub that just recently won the prize for Dublin’s Best Gastropub, contacted me and offered this outstanding prize.
Streetlife is an authentic 80s funk & soul band that also proudly covers other 80s favourites including some Disco. Streetlife will perform in The Purty Kitchen on Sat 21 Sept and tickets are EUR 8 (buy them at the door).
The Purty Kitchen originally wanted to offer a few tickets for Streetlife as a prize, but then they decided to go one big step further: The winner of this prize will get a pair of tickets for Streetlife and on top of that he or she will win a 3-course meal for 2 with wine in The Purty Kitchen before the Streetlife gig on 21 September. The value of the prize is over EUR 100!
So, if you want to get good food followed by great entertainment, then send your entry to dublineventguide@gmail.com with STREETLIFE as the subject of the mail and with your full name and mobile phone number in the body of the mail. The winner will be chosen by random draw, but I check all mails to make sure that name and mobile phone number is in it and it can be quite boring to get lots of mails with just two lines, so feel free to send me a little messages with it! ;-) It won’t influence your chances, but it might entertain me a little! :-) Your mail has to be with me by 15:00 on Wed 18 September.
Check out The Purty Kitchen at www.purtykitchen.com
and the band Streetlife is here

Promote your product or (non-free) event with a competition in the Dublin Event Guide!
The Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events) focuses on free events, but we all fully understand that not everything can be free in life and if you run a non-free event (or sell a cool product), I am sure it would help you if you could let the 26,000+ Dublin Event Guide readers know about your event or product. If you can make a few tickets (product samples) available for the Dublin Event Guide readers, I can help you and promote your event (product) in the context of a competition. Cost to you? In most cases not a cent! Just contact me on dublineventguide@gmail.com and we can discuss the details. It is all very simple! ;-)

St Stephen’s Green Traffic is changing completely!! Watch out!
If you are sometimes driving or cycling near St. Stephen’s Green and even if you are just walking in the area, watch out! The traffic organisation has changed and will change even further. All because of the new LUAS route from St. Stephen’s Green to the Northside and back. Dawson Street will be closed for traffic and Kildare Street will go back to traffic in both directions. and you can imagine that this changes a LOT.
If you are interested, you can see all relevant descriptions and graphics here: www.dublincity.ie/RoadsandTraffic/Traffic/Pages/StStephensGreenTrafficManagementScheme.aspx

European Mobility Week
From 16-22 Sept, the yearly EU Mobility Week will take place, but the only event in Dublin that I was able to find is an (interesting) Goethe-Institute organised talk about the cycling in Frankfurt.
You wonder what else is happening in Dublin during that week? It seems that DublinCity is duly ignoring this EU-wide event: I wasn’t able to find a single event organised by DublinCity. Maybe they just keep it as a secret? :-/
Ominously the Garda Siochana website at www.garda.ie states: “An Garda Síochána is supporting European Mobility Week which is running from the 16th to the 22nd September 2013. The week concludes with “Car Free Day” on Friday, the 2oth September 2013. Please click on link for further information www.mobilityweek.eu/ ”
Strange! There are no plans for a Car Free Day and there haven’t been such plans for many years in Dublin. And HOW exactly do the Gardai support the event?
The PARK (ing) Day is taking place on Friday 20 Sept because of the Mobility Week, but would you say this is can be seen as Dublin City’s contribution to the EU Mobility Week? I am not sure!

If you took the opportunity and started a new business recently (not more than approx. 6 months ago) and need a bit of support to let Dublin know about your new venture, talk to me. In this section I will feature new companies every now and then. I had to give it a rest for a while due to some technical challenges, but I seem to have mastered them more or less by now. ;-)

Based on your feedback, I have decided to do the following with the Exhibition section in this newsletter from now on: I will provide you with a link to a near-comprehensive listing of exhibitions provided by www.visualartists.ie . For me to list all exhibitions would only be doubling their good work and would be an inefficient use of my resources. The link is visualartists.ie/category/listings/dublin/
On top of that I will every now and then include here a small selection of exhibitions that either are not mentioned in the Visual Artist listing or are note-worthy to be mentioned separately.

Sculpture in Context

National Botanic Gardens, Botanic Road, Glasnevin, Dublin 9
“Sculpture in Context” is a brilliant idea and concept: It is Ireland’s largest outdoor sculpture exhibition were beautiful sculptures from talented artists are perfectly integrated in the amazing Botanic Garden.
“The gardens are not only a botanical haven, and a quiet oasis on the outskirts of a modern European City; they also provide a challenging venue that gives the artist the rare opportunity of realising large-scale work. The sculptures will be displayed throughout the gardens, ponds, Great Palm House, and Curvilinear Range, with the smaller works exhibited in the gallery above the Visitor Centre. On Saturdays throughout the exhibition, you will have a rare opportunity to join the artists for a guided tour throughout the exhibition. “

Dragon Boat Regatta
10:00 – 18:00, Sat 14 Sep
Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2
The International Dragon Boat Regatta takes place this weekend on Sat and Sun. You can watch the – quite brief – races, but be prepared that there is NO other activities on Grand Canal Square. Last year I went there, expecting some festival atmosphere on land while the Dragon Boats compete in the water, but there was nothing else but Dragon Boats racing on the water. That was also interesting to watch, but not what I had expected. So, enjoy the race, but be aware what will await you.
Six teams compete against each other and teams can consist of 17 – 20 people; 16 paddlers, 1 drummer and up to 3 reserves. Teams are from Ireland, Dubay, Italy, UK.

Yoga in Phoenix Park
11:00 – 12:00, Sat 14 Sep
Bandstand (behind the Tea Room, near the Zoo), Phoenix Park, Dublin 8
This will be the fourth year for “Yoga in the Park” and I think it is a brilliant initiative for a very worthy cause. From May until September, Fiona from www.twopalmsyoga.com and her team of teachers invite to an hour of Yoga in Phoenix Park every Saturday. No booking is required and you decide how much you give, the class is donation based.
All proceeds go to the Dublin Simon Community, a charity that does invaluable work for the homeless people in Dublin. Just bring a mat or a towel, some water and (hopefully) even some sun protection to the class. Should the weather be bad, the bandstand will be shelter or even training location. The training is suitable for all levels, so even total beginners are very welcome.

ILLUSION: Nothing is as it seems – Science Gallery
12:00 – 18:00, Sat 14 Sep
Science Gallery, Pearse Street, TCD, Dublin 2
Only three more weekends! If you haven’t been there, don’t wait any longer!
The current Science Gallery exhibition “ILLUSION: Nothing is as it seems” will run from 12 July-29 Sept and is really interesting. Admission is free.
The exhibition is all about Illusions and it is a “perception-shattering insight into the human mind, playfully combining the techniques used by magicians and explored by psychologists.”
More than 20 installations will deceive your eyes (and ears) and will show you that what we perceive is often radically different from the reality. You will find impressive and amazing things, but nothing will be boring! The exhibition is suitable for all ages, so bring your children or – if you don’t have any – just bring yourself.
I have seen nearly every Science Gallery exhibition and I would say this is definitely one of the best.
ILLUSION was curated by psychologist, author and magician Richard Wiseman, and was researched by deception artist Paul Gleeson and a large group of mediators are available in the gallery to explain all the things that you see (or hear) to you.
Have a look at the website below to see an outline on what is on show. I strongly recommend that you see the show and tell me afterwards what you thought about it: dublineventguide@gmail.com (During the week (Tues-Fri) the exhibition is open until 20:00 and from 12:00 and on Sat+Sun; 12:00-18:00).

Ink Slingers Creative Writing Hour
12:00, Sat 14 Sep
Irish Writers’ Centre, 19 Parnell Square North, Dublin 1
The next Ink Slingers Creative Writing Hour will take place on Sat. Two weeks ago it pointed out that the event is free. That reference is not in the text anymore this time. I only stress that because before the summer there was some unrest over some charges that were brought in and people felt they weren’t sufficiently forewarned.
The hour includes writing exercises and prompts to get ideas flowing. It is open to everyone and is suitable for all levels of experience

Sculpture in Context
09:00 – 18:00, Sun 15 Sep
Admission is free. This year’s exhibition will run until 18 October.

Dragon Boat Regatta
10:00 – 17:00, Sun 15 Sep

FlightFest
12:00 – 17:00, Sun 15 Sep
Dublin (various locations)
FlightFest is a fly-over of 30 aircraft, old and new, small and very large (Airbus A380). The planes and helicopters will fly along the Liffey from the East Link Toll Bridge to Liberty Hall and everybody is invited to watch the fly-over. The running order is here www.flightfest.ie/latest-news/detail/running-order-for-aircraft-at-flightfest-now-available
The event is organised by the Irish Aviation Authority for the Gathering and there is therefore a high probability that it will be a once-off, never to be repeated event.
The fly-over will start at 14:00 and will continue until 17:00. Three hours for 30 aircraft means that approx. every 4 minutes a fly-by will take place. The quays on the North side and the South side of the Liffey between Customs House and Dublin Port will be closed for traffic and there will be family attractions, stalls and festivities.
The planes will fly at a height of below 250 metres (800ft), which is just a little bit higher than the 207 m high Poolbeg chimneys. So you have the best possible opportunity to see these planes really close. It is expected that up to 100,000 people will come to the event. Unfortunately, though, the weather forecast is not great. Windy with 77% cloud cover and periods of rain is not the best condition for such an event. Let’s hope for a good weather surprise.
Apart from the Sammuel Beckett Bridge, all traffic bridges will remain open for cars. The Sean O’Casey Bridge (Pedestrian Bridge at CHQ) will be closed. You are allowed to cross the other bridges, but you are not allowed to watch the fly-over standing on a bridge. The quays will be closed for traffic from 06:00-19:00, so if you need to drive somewhere avoid the area!
The fly-over will start at 14:00, but the festivities will already start at 12:00.

ILLUSION: Nothing is as it seems – Science Gallery
12:00 – 18:00, Sun 15 Sep

Wikipedia explains: A lindy exchange is a gathering of lindy hop (a form of jazz dance and part of the swing dance family) dancers in one city for several days to experience the dance venues and styles of that local community and to dance with visitors and locals.

Dublin Sketchers – Sunday Meet-up
14:00, Sun 15 Sep
Dublin (various locations)
The “Dublin Sketchers” is an informal group of typically hobby artists who go somewhere different in Dublin every Sunday (e.g. National Museum, Maritime Museum, Dublin Flea Market, Farmleigh, Botanic Gardens, Dublin Castle), sketch for one to two hours and then meet up for coffee afterwards and discuss their sketches. There are some hugely talented people among them and it is a great idea to meet up with others who have the same hobby. Find out on their website where they will meet and join them if you do some sketching/drawing yourself. I know that the Dublin Sketchers often use the Dublin Event Guide to find interesting free events and I am delighted to be able to help!

Macnas Chaosmos – Fringe Fest
14:00 – 18:00, Sun 15 Sep
Meeting House Square, Temple Bar, Dublin 2
Macnas events are usually quite surreal, but at the same time often charming and definitely interesting.
Maybe this one is more of the surreal type? “Wild beasts follow an ethereal alchemist, accompanied by a curious insect on a penny farthing. As they meander their way through the city they create striking vignettes that will entice, excite and feed your curiosity.”
It is a rare Fringe Fest event because it is free and you can expect that the demand will be according. There will be two shows, one at 14:00 and the other at 17:00 and the duration is 45 minutes.
Tickets can only be obtained in person or by phone from the Fringe Fest box office (Opening Hours: Mon-Sat 10:00-18:00, Sun 12:00-18:00). The Box Office is in Filmbase, Curved Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2 and the phone number is 1850 374 643

Oktoberfest 2013
12:00 – 00:30, Thu 19 Sep
George’s Dock, IFSC, Dublin 1
It is THAT time of the year again! :-O Yes, Oktober is coming closer and closer and traditionally the Oktoberfest in Dublin takes place in September. This year from 19 Sept – 06 Oct. It is a German Beer Festival with Erdinger Weissbräu Beer, lots of German Bavarian Food (I love the Schweinshaxen!) and awful ;-) (but typical and authentic) Bavarian music.
Opening hours are Sun-Wed 12:00-23:00 and Thurs-Sat: 12:00-00:30.
The Festival Tent is on the platform in George’s Dock and there are severe admission restrictions (quantity of people). With already huge but still growing popularity of the Oktoberfest, this means there will be long queues already from around 17:30. You can get beer and some food next to the CHQ building as well, so you don’t have to queue to get into the tent, but if that is what you want, you might need to pre-book.
Admission is free, but after 22:00 an somewhat strange wristband system kicks in whereby you have to buy a wristband for EUR 6 that gives you a EUR 5 food voucher. Allegedly licensing rules force them to do that.

Frankfurt on Track to a Bicycle-friendly City
19:00, Thu 19 Sep
Wood Quay Venue, Civic Offices, Wood Quay, Dublin 8
During European Mobility Week cycling activist Joachim Hochstein will talk about the specific challenges of mobility within the economic metropolis Frankfurt on the river Main. Hochstein is the director of a specific cycling office of the city of Frankfurt as well as the vice chairman of the regional association Hessen of the Allgemeiner Deutscher Fahrradclub (ADFC, “General German Bicycle Club”). For more than twenty years he has been engaged in bringing the people to cycle more often and, importantly, safer.
The key objective in Hochstein’s talk will be to stress the central challenges of mobility in Frankfurt, which lie in an interaction of all the participants for the development of a sustainable urban mobility culture. The bike, he states, will make a significant contribution to that.
Admission is free.
You wonder what else is happening in Dublin during European Mobility Week? It seems that DublinCity is duly ignoring this EU-wide event: I wasn’t able to find a single event organised by DublinCity. Maybe they just keep it as a secret? :-/

Dublin PARK(ing) Day
12:00 – 18:00, Fri 20 Sep
Dublin (various locations)
Dublin PARK(ing) Day is taking place on Friday at almost 30 locations around the city, from Arbour Hill to Raheny and right through the City Centre.
PARK(ing) Day is a yearly event for reclaiming public space. For a single day, on-street metered car parking spaces around the city will be transformed into imaginative public spaces instead of being just a parking space. The idea started in San Francisco a few years ago and has spread to over 180 cities.
Artists, designers, urban, environmental and public health activists will create unique installations around the city that will each make a statement in favour of more people-friendly streets.
Mayor Oisin Quinn will launch Dublin PARK(ing) Day at the Dublin Cycling Campaign Installation on Molesworth Street at 13:30 on Friday. The locations and themes of the different parking spaces are not announced yet, but you will find it on the website below closer to the date. Until then you can look at a selection of pictures from the 2012 Parking Day to get an idea what people did: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCJldZf4ga0

Culture Night 2013
17:00 – 23:00, Fri 20 Sep
Dublin (various locations)
The Culture Night is one of the best events of the year and I really hope you will find the time to take part. I know people who “build” their work assignments avoiding to be away on Culture Night and a friend of mine even travels more than 1300km to be in Dublin for Culture Night.
On Friday Night from 17:00-23:00 museums, galleries and other venues are open late and there will be entertainment all over the city. The central virtual hub of Culture Night has traditionally been in and around Temple Bar (The Temple Bar Cultural Trust is the main organiser), but it is by far not limited to that area. And the best? All tours, concerts and performances are free (even in venues that normally charge for admission). Some require booking, though and for others the queues will be VERY long.
Nearly 200 venues take part and there are concerts, art demonstrations, museum and gallery tours, theatre performances, a Family Culture Trail, dance taster classes and lots more.
I will include a few events here, but they are just a teaser! :-) The full programme includes all events and it wouldn’t make sense if I copied all that.
The full downloadable programme is here www.culturenight.ie/wp-content/uploads/culture-night-2013-programme.pdf and there is also an iPhone app and there will be an Android app available in the next few days. Check on the website below for further details. The Culture Night Brochure is available from the Tourist Office in Suffolk Street and from any of the Dublin City Bid kiosks in town.

Dishonesty or Delusion or just Marketing?
Through a coincidence (a rare click on a Google Ad) I found the website of a company last week that I had never heard about. The company is relatively young and the people running it, seem to work hard to make it a success. The website looks nice and the information on it seems in general believable. All this is good stuff!
But then I came across one thing that surprised, even shocked me.
Let me start by explaining something: If you hear about Blog Awards, or Web Awards or Twitter Awards or any kind of other other awards that are given to individuals or companies, you have to be aware that nearly all awards in our modern world require self-nomination. So, if someone tells them how chuffed they are that they got nominated for an award, they are – in most cases – telling you a little white lie. With some awards you even have to pay a nomination fee.
In my opinion, it is a good thing if a company nominates themselves. It focuses the mind (because you have to justify the nomination extensively in many cases) and it shows that they have a competitive spirit, which is much better than complacency. But what if a self-nomination is suddenly turned into a super achievement?
The company that I came across (and I won’t mention their name because it is not that relevant) wrote this on their website:
“With our company only 10 months old we were delighted to be told all 3 of us were individually nominated for ‘Event Producer of the Year’ at the Event Industry Awards 2013. We were genuinely happy just to be nominated. We’d set a target of an EIA nomination for within our first 3 years so to achieve 3 of them in Year 1 was unreal, as was the fact that they were for each of us individually. We like to think that this is testament to how we do business and how we do it nicely.”
I am not sure if that company nominated all three members of the team themselves. But for the EIA Awards you have to write an extensive justification, so there is a good chance that it was a self-nomination. But if that was the case, then how do these statements stack up: “we were delighted to be told all 3 of us were individually nominated”. Well you knew it when you submitted the application. No big surprise there and no big achievement either.
Or: “We were genuinely happy just to be nominated.” What? you didn’t want to win? Being nominated is nothing especially if you do it yourself!
The next sentence becomes hilarious IF the nomination was a self-nomination: “We’d set a target of an EIA nomination for within our first 3 years so to achieve 3 of them in Year 1 was unreal, as was the fact that they were for each of us individually.”
And at that point the line from Marketing to Delusion has firmly been crossed, but they didn’t stop there, because the circumstances they portray are a pure lie (assuming they self-nominated). I would NEVER be able to work with a company like that because they clearly can’t be trusted in my opinion. And they boot the boot in with “We like to think that this is testament to how we do business and how we do it nicely.”
At this point I am reaching for the sick bag!
There is a (probably small) possibility that the company did not self-nominate and then all what I wrote above is without justification and without ground and is completely wrong and unfair. BUT if they did self-nominate, they are possibly a bunch of cheats.
Morale: Don’t believe self-propaganda by companies unless you understand the INs and OUTs of that self-propaganda.

This Event Guide (the “Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events)”) is an Event Guide with a difference. It covers mostly free events based on the thinking that free events deserve additional support and that non-free events have the money to pay for advertisement. The Guide is a _Guide_ and not just a listing and is therefore at times quite extensive. It is sent for free to anybody who is interested and if you want to be added to the mailing list or know somebody who would like to receive this guide, just send them to www.dublineventguide.com, where they can subscribe. If you have feedback – good or bad – PLEASE tell me via dublineventguide@gmail.com.
BTW: I am not paid or otherwise rewarded for compiling and distributing this Event Guide it is purely a hobby so your donations are needed: www.perfectresults.info/donation.htm . Advertisement in or sponsorship of the Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events) is possible and very welcome, please contact me for more information.
Please note: The Dublin Event Guide (for Free Event) is not related or connected to the long gone fortnightly printed publication “the event guide” that you found until December 2008 in pubs and other venues.
